I am proud of Frank Waln. I wish him the best of success. I am Navajo/Zuni currently going to school here @USC in Los Angeles. I really hope as Native Americans we work together to create a better reality for our tribes. We should support each other, because we are unrepresented and are the minorities. We need to work together (doesn't matter what tribe you are from). We are all in this together. Blessings to all you Native Americans from all the tribes across the U.S..#NativePride.

P.Anthony Lasiloo Im with u brother! Been saying this for a minute, but I have come to realize that we are NOT the minority! Indigenous blood is deep still on Turtle Island, ppl forget a lot that our brothers and sisters to the south are just as Native as we are. The suyapis call them "illegal immigrants" but thats incorrect. They are indigenous as well! Oh and Im from the Salish and Kootenai tribes in Montana.

Always remember what Tupaq Katari said, right before the conquistadors executed him: _"Naya Saparukiw Jiwayapxitata, Nayxarusti Waranqa, Waranqanaqaw Tukutaw Kut'Anipxani."_ In English: "Today I am one man, but later on, you'll see me again--*and I will be millions."* This matters because in 2002, a native Aymara man repeated these same words to his critics, because they forced him out of the Bolivian national congress in total disgrace. That man is Evo Morales, who in 2006 sailed to a landslide electoral victory, as the first Native president of Bolivia, one of South America's majority-native nations. Because those who say it can't be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.

This is one of the most important artists to come along in this genre of music. This is exactly what this form of music was created for, to get across the story of misunderstood people. To have a native american artist in this arena is a great way to bring the continued plight of the native american people too the younger generation who needs to and can help the O.G. people of this country. There needs to be a "Native lives matter" in this country. The native americans are still being down-trodden by our goverment. Their land and way of life is always being taken away for what is called,"The better good of the majority".

YOUR NATIVE CULTURE HAS ALWAYS BEEN PRESENT IN MY MIND BECAUSE OF YOUR DEEP SPIRITUAL CONNECTION TO THE LAND. TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION IS GREAT, BUT VALUE AND RESPECT FOR THE LAND AND EACH OTHER GETS LOST AND WE END UP IN A WORLD FULL OF VIOLENCE AND DESTRUCTION. Richard Bonilla I agree with that we need more people like Frank but *cultures. There are many, many cultures and we are all lumped together as "Native Americans" - the only reason I agree with that term is because we are the only ones native to America.

My Dad is Native(Shoshone) and my Mom is White(mostly Scandinavian). I've struggled for a long time trying to piece together who I am. What I am. I'm only 18 but it pains me to feel this way. I've always felt connected to Native Culture, I don't know why. I wasn't raised by my Fathers Family(Mom and Dad split when i was young), so I know little about my Culture. But whenever I hear "Native Music", I feel something. Almost like my Soul dancing and my Heart pumps to the rhythm. That's honestly the only way I can explain it lol don't hate. I bear a White mans Surname. Bishop. I'm assuming my Family was involved in the whole "turning Natives into White Christians" era. So that makes me feel even more disconnected from who I am. I Tan very easily, due to Video Games and work(from Home) though I have lost much of my Tan haha. But when I do get sunlight, I get much darker than the average Joe. And that's when you could tell I have Native Blood. All in all.....I'm just a confused mutt with no real Home.....

You're a Shoshone Viking, I guess. Be proud, you've warriors on either side. Something I've noticed about ancient Scandinavian music though: how similar it is to Native American music. Things like frame drums & singing styles, and did you know the Sami's traditional dwelling is basically a tipi? Check out Hedningarna, Wardruna & similar. You'll recognise the sound I'm sure.

I'm white and I love this..it reminds me of what I need to keep in my awareness at all times .. respect for the First Nations people's and to listen to what they say and be humble ..I wish other whites know what I know.. I studied Native American studies in college and knew of the stealing of native children to place and abuse in those schools, and I know people are STILL stealing native children.. and I know all the cruelty oppression and lies.. have listened to John Trudell and Russel Means.. went to Standing Rock to donate and offer support.. and learned there as well.. I truly believe that until we have First Nations voices in our leadership in our culture we are doomed to keep eating our tails .. I can't wait till the rest of the world wakes up

+Andy Write Wait. So you've got a barely perceptible Native lineage if you're tracing back, by some miracle at least 150 years ago to a 4/4 blood quantum? Keep it quiet, 'cause such ignorance is loud and clear. Damn. I'm still embarrassed to admit my minimal (25%) Welsh ancestry. All else is Eastern Shawnee and Cherokee.
@AnastasiaRoseSiyankovsky8 жыл бұрын
+Selene Raven The fact that it's there, and I respect and love is quiet enough. Skin tone shouldn't matter as we're all people on this planet together. It just so happens to be that there are people out there whom are racist, and think things without understanding, and a 32nd Cherokee would mean my 2x great grand fathet was atleast in the late 1800's, early 1900's. I am not saying I'm native with the heritage I have, and this is all respect. For what we both know goes on today. There is no need for name calling, and bragging about heritage we hold. This era is all about trying to keep the culture alive, and we all need to realize this instead of calling out white, black, asian, and arabian people who have some heritage. We are all related, so I could say I Apache, and Cheyenne. Maybe even say I am pueblo Zuni...
@seleneraven23998 жыл бұрын
+Andy Write I wasn't trying to slam you that hard. If your ancestors made it to the Dawes Rolls, so be it, but you'll never get tribal recognition. The Trail of Tears (1838-39) eventually lent itself to widespread contempt in the northeast because so many other races claimed Cherokee ancestry. It's called the Cherokee Grandmother Syndrome. I wouldn't go around the Dakotas claiming 1/128th Lakota blood, because anyone who's 4/4 has nothing but derision for halfbreeds, let alone so far back in history. I get that you've got a passion for all everything regarding American Indians. Something resonates deeply in your soul, and that's what is important. "Keeping the culture alive" is paramount. And I'm not condescending to your blood. It's what I am proudest of since I self-identified with my Indian ancestry well before my relatives had any influence on my thoughts or feelings. I adored all things "native" before I recognized it was my life.
@AnastasiaRoseSiyankovsky8 жыл бұрын
Selene Raven You sir are a well rounded man, I like you. Thank you, and I can understand where you're coming from. I don't really want tribal recognition. It's more so that I can at least have something to go off of instead of being a full blooded Irishman.
