It was Aldous Huxley who wrote Brave New World (and took mescaline for scientific experiment), Thomas Huxley was his grand father, a biologist who defended the Darwinist Theory of evolution. However, great talk thank you :)

Yup, you should always gather knowledge from a variety of subjects. Expose your mind to new ideas/experiences, it makes you a more intelligent person. If you are only experienced in only a couple subjects, then your mind will have a patchy net.

the neural network as a net is a good analogy... I also feel like it helps explain why people who have dense neural networks tend to move more slowly through life... a dense net is going to cause more overall drag. I guess if the net got too dense it might almost drag everything to a halt and we call that anxiety. I bet anxiety/panic attacks are neurologically very similar to someone with intense concentration.. and that word "concentration" is a really apt description of what's literally going on in a person's mind exhibiting it

I don't know if it is because my net is pretty close knitted, but I understood everything you were saying in this video. I know that the things that I think of and relate to that makes certain movies, songs and books good is far from what others around me might think about the same things, and it has to do with the fact that I am a very active collecter of information. This video was very relevant to my current state of mind..

Depends what drugs you're talking about. Also, the way in which you use the drug, and why you're using it will influence whether you're tightening or loosening up the 'mental net'. Like if you do cocaine just to get fucked, then you're achieving nothing, but if you do mdma to feel more connected with your friends and surroundings, or LSD, Shrooms, DMT etc. to visit the edges of consciousness in order to learn and explore your psyche, then the net will become tighter. This is at least true in my experience
