I saw Frank in November 1977. I've seen many bands of that era. Frank put on a show. He stands out in my mind as the best of that time period. Frank was a musical genius.

He was a genius. Under appreciated because no matter what, he played his music his way.

in terms of crudeness, yes. in terms of vocal speed, yes. in terms of whatever you were thinking when you wrote that, yes.

Seems like Mr. Zappa could assemble a somewhat random set of top musicians and have them all work together very tightly when he wanted to playing his unique blend of whatever you want to call it music. Caught him live as late as the 80's in a college hockey auditorium, and sound and band was excellent, did not miss a note or beat.

Zappa had an uncanny ability to inspire the countless musicians he worked with to give him their absolute best. Whether they were truly great or not didn't matter, as long as they gave up the best they could do, whatever it was. And you can be sure they were, and remain, grateful for that.

I suppose that I'm bringing the wrath of everyone, on this thread, down upon myself, but I have to say something. And, look, I love Zappa as much as the next person (hell, that's why I'm here), but Frank could have been responsible for that guy getting the shit beaten out of him (or worse). Not cool. Oh, and when I purchase a concert ticket, that means that the ARTIST needs to sing...Not me. That said, I LOVE me some Dinah Moe Hum!
