for anyone whos ever done a deep dive on zappa, its insane the life he lived. I mean i think he may be the most legendary figure in music in some ways. in the 60s his house was like a mecha for all the pop stars at the time. Paul from the Beatles was basically impersonating him at one point, wearing a trench coat and moustache and conducting an orchestra. he show jimi hendrix the Wah pedal which he became famous for. He had the first concept album and double album. his music spans all genres and even had stuff that could be considered rapping. First to popularize humor in music, orchestra in rock, greatly influenced jazz fusion. His early performances were unique and experimental at the time and his later use of video. I mean the list goes on and on. And those are just obscure footnotes in all the influences he's had. It's never ending

As usual this troll gets his facts/stories incorrect. The Mothers of Invention were not named the mothers of Invention because of a gig on mothersday. They are called that because the original name for the band was Motherfuckers, which in 60s n 70s music scene lingo was a term of affection for extremely talanted musicians. Zappa wanted to call the band the Motherfuckers because thats exactly what they were. Extremely talented musicians. Obviously no one would release, produce, play on the radio a band called the Motherfuckers in the 60s n 70s so the name was changed to Mothers of Invention.
@morrisalanisette90675 ай бұрын

Hard to believe any music store owners would have actually banned the sale of Blues records, as the narrator states, even in those days. I would think that they would be happy to sell any records they had in stock, regardless of the race of the performer. I could be wrong. Perhaps they were receiving unsolicited shipments of Blues records from distributors and refusing to sell them even if any customer happened to spy them in their inventory storage area and inquired if they were available for purchase. Perhaps the store owner was planning to ship them back for a refund or otherwise destroy them. Weird, but possible. That would be frustrating, though at least you would know that those records existed and could search for another outlet.
