LP is a project created by Mike Shinoda essentially so i don't see a problem on him keeping the band alive, the problem is that the scientology chick is singing songs that she can't relate to, since most of LP songs talk about abuse and depression, something that her "religion" is not very conscious about. I think she can sing the new band repertory and songs, but singing songs that Chester helped to write, and putting a stain of scientology influence on the band's legacy, is not only disrespectful but also damages any good aspect left in the band. If Mike likes her as a lead, I'll be happy to give her a shot too, at least wait until the new album fully drops before you decide if her sound is to your taste but I don't think it's fair to try and gatekeep a band based on the past or the messages within the songs. I'm fine with people having differing opinions, but I can't stand the people saying Emily is a scientologist and that she doesn't believe in mental health. For one, her band Dead Sara has songs about mental health and Emily has been openly gay for a while, something the church of scientology does not allow. She has never once made any kind of statement to suggest she "doesn't believe in mental health." There is no way Mike would let someone who genuinely thought those things into the band. And as for Jamie, one of Chester's sons, he is mentally ill. I'm not trying to make fun of him or write him off, but he's been on a downward spiral for years and has shared some very alarming conspiracies about his own father's death. He's not very reliable, and even if he was of sound mind, it's not his band. I don't think it's disrespectful to continue LP. There wasn't this much of a visceral reaction when Alice in Chains or AC/DC did this. It's Mike and Brad and Joe and Dave's band just as much as it was Chester's. Sure fans are obsessing over Hybrid Theory and Meteora quite a lot, but that's because those albums are what put the band on the map. They were and still are some of the best music albums of their generation and have influenced much of modern day metal (especially metalcore) for better or for worse. Anything not on par with these 2 albums will look worse by comparison, even in cases where they have good songs. Chester was always in a dark place mentally, and he expressed that with every single pant, scream, baited breath that he could. In the last few months of his life he expressed it best, ''I should not be alone when im in that mental space.'' Can you guess how many people were with him in his final moments? 0! Dude got far of the deep end and ended everything just to escape. Sure fan back lash did not help one bit, but it wasn't the catalyst for everything, but rather the cherry on top. When you are someone so humble and pure like Chester was, and you've been placed on this gynormous pedastal that just can't seem to stop growing, even something trivial as fan backlash will feel like you've been betrayed by everyone or you've let everybody down. Add that to an endless spyral of fighting addiction, depression, a horrific childhood trauma that will stay with you for life, AND the fact that your best friend just died, you and many others would've prolly thrown in the living towel too. All this to say that fans aren't at fault for Chester's self deletion, but he is. He may have done it for his own reasons, perhaps it was an innevitability- perhaps the reason he separated himself from his family was because he had everything figured out but just didn't want either his wife or son to be martyrs to his corpse. Nevertheless, it was a decision he himself chose, despite knowing how much people loved him. Sometimes it truly doesn't matter how much you mean to people. If you can't mean anything to yourself, you will always feel meaningless. And that is of course assuming that Chester killed himself and wasn't done in by someone else.

I've always thought it was weird when abandon member of any band dies, not just the vocalist but any member at all, and the band just replaces them and continues under the same name. I think it's disrespectful having been in bands myself, having been a music guy in the metal punk hard rock and general dive bar performer guy for years in my early days. My first band, the idea of a single one of us being replaced would have made me vomit and I would have a refused to tour under the same name. @@bouquetforeverymisery I think it’s more disrespectful that the band is moving on in such a way rather than just stopping while they’re ahead and doing something different. Bands are generally associated with the frontman, it’s not always the case but the literal voice of a band tends to be the main identity. Should Queen have reformed with a new singer and continue to call it Queen? No. Should Black Flag have reformed with someone other than Henry Rollins and still call it Black Flag? Hell no. Whether you like it or not Queen is Freddie Mercury, Black Flag is Henry Rollins, and Linkin Park is Chester Bennington, it doesn’t matter if Shinoda is the main song writer, for better or worse that band was Bennington and it’s never gonna be the same no matter what you do in an attempt to change that, even if you pulled what Journey did and got a guy that sounded exactly like him it’s still not the same because at that point you’re just selling a lie to your fans. The only reason they’re still doing this is because it’s a cash grab, if they really cared about making music they’d do what RATM did after Zack left and start over.

There is no doubt that Linkin Parks situation has been turned complicated. I know many of us would have prefered a better revival for the band. That said, it comes as no surprised that many fans form negative believes based on lack of evidence. The more you research, the more you learn, the more these claims crumble. Emily did attend one hearing for Danny Masterson, yet it was reported that only a few were actually allowed into the hearing itself. Meanwhile, it appears that she had the wrong belief in Masterson initially. Ultimately once she found out the true reality of the situation, she left and cut all ties with him. Interestingly , there doesn't seem to be evidence of Emily ever being involved with the harassment of the victims. Merely a spoken accusation from someone who aparently wasn't even around Emily. As for scientology, Emily has already gone against scientology as she came out as queer, and sings music addressing mental health. And it seems she's barely been involved with scientology, all things considered. I mean, even without a deep dive with any information we can collect, the hate on Emily just doesn't seem justified. As I said, it's very sad to see "fans" embrace a false narrative. True hardcore fans know what Linkin Park stands for, and if Emily was as bad as people claimed, she would not have been allowed to join. And Mike addressing the hate is VERY justified and not a ploy to cover up anything.

The only time I think this rule is passable is when the stand in vocalist has close/familial ties with the band i.e. Brian Johnson was directly endorsed by Bon Scott (that's where the band had heard of him in the first place) or Jakob Nowell standing in for his father's role in Sublime which not only feels natural but is an amazing tribute to his father.

I don’t like her at all, there’s something about her, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I don't like her either. (This is mainly due to her personal life.) However, as a singer, I think she's good. She's not amazing, but she's not bad either. A solid 7.5/10 vocalist.

I've read some of their stuff and lived next door to the Celebrity Centre on Tamarind. A lot of their stuff is helpful and people were nice (cult looking dressed 100% same) but knowing where that Xenu train ends should be enough to know to just buy the books and not become a full blown member. Growing up in that it would be difficult to pull away so in or out I understand her and the bands silence on the issue. Some formers I met told me details of what they went through and others they knew. BRUTAL! As rar as the bands sound it's LP but slightly different from what it was before. I think Chester made people feel connected in some way and it's possible that that level of sensivity is why he chose to check out. We are blessed for what he and the band/music shared with US at that time. Hybrid Theory is all I listen to from LP and I don't know why I didn't keep up with the other stuff but he band lives on and that's great for those performing (it's what they love) and for the fans that enjoy continuing on that journey with them. I won't be one of them, but I don't see it as being disrespectful to Chester just a 'hybrid' change of what they were before.

Yeah the fact that it’s a moral dilemma is so much worse than feeling Chesters absence and worrying about him being replaced.

This is almost like what happened to Sepultura, except the frontman didn’t die, there was just drama and eventually all the original members left yet still they are around

Let’s be honest, Linkin Park has been re writing In The End over and over and over with different lyrics and releasing it as new music for most of their career . 😂😂😂

It's a joke that they're continuing.

See, I'm just into the band for the music. She is a badass vocalist, and meshes well with the style of the band. Nuff for me, I'm sold.

My issue with Emily is that she can't do screamed vocals. Like go and listen to the live renditions that Emily did of giving up, bleed it out or any of the hybrid theory era stuff that have screams. She doesn't even to put effort into doing it and it ruins those tracks. She's a good hard rock vocalist but for something like Linkin Park which gets heavier in some places in their discography than normal hard rock. She's not the right fit.
