The lag is caused by the Ps3 looking for the blu ray drive when you plug the drive back in it will boot at full speed.

Whats the size of that little monitor? looks nice and 4:3. I'm sure the PS3/PS2 games probably look way better there due to the higher PPI density at their native resolution on a smaller screen/monitor compared to a bigger one will make the games look more pixelated. I've tested this with a 16" inch monitor, 24" inch monitor, 42" inch HDTV and 70" inch 4K TV. They look better on the first two smaller monitors. I wish I knew about it years ago though.

with YLOD you don't know what part of the ps3 are dead, usually the RSX but it's not always the case so he might not be able to repair it.

No it wont, has a different pinout. Can only do 40 & 65 nm chips.

I really want to do this to a CECHA01 PS3 myself and remove the tokin caps and use a 40nm RSX. Isn't the 40nm RSX from the superslim and not the slim? I was under the impression that the 90nm/60nm/40nm were phat/slim/superslim but I could be mistaken. Either way, killer job on this dude! Where did you get the CECHA01? Did you get it from eBay for parts/not working?

You can get a 40nm from a slim or super slim. The super slim ones don't have an IHS, so you'd have to use a copper shim when putting on an IHS. I get my consoles from eBay, that's correct, they're all broken so I go through the process to fix them myself.

Yes. The 90nm rsx is the common fail point of the early ps3 models. Swapping out those for the 65nm or 40 nm chip should make these machines last alot longer

This is an 80GB model, but this can work on ANY PS3, most would just do it primarily on a backwards model to keep them going!

It's called the "Orbis Mod" but you no longer need a modchip! It can all be done through the syscon now.

Yes you can do this on any BC PS3, I've done a few A models. I havent been online but I think if you have a CFW, you can't.

@@LibertyKyo no, you CAN use OFW just fine. All youre doing is training the Syscon on the PS3 to function with the new RSX over the old 90nm RSX. It’ll function like the same PS3 and PS2 games work just fine as well (if its a BC model). You can play online and not worry about bans (on OFW ofc)

I use an ACHI IR PRO, unfortunately, they don't make it anymore, but they have a newer version of it. You can find them on eBay/Aliexpress.

No need to buy a chip anymore for it, you just need to do it via syscon if that's what you're referring to.

@@georgiepoo3304 Sure thing, If you get a SYSCON reader for PS3, you can just program the console with a few lines of code to read and it will bypass the whole modchip thing.

why go all of that hussle when you could have just bought a ps3 slim or super slim. to me this looks like greed (no insult intended). endless greed. somehow no ps3 is good enough unless you have 4 usbs and a useless backwards compatibility.
