Definately a great unit, I had mine for awhile now. Its not the do all tool(one doesn't exist) but it does more than most. I used a Dillon trimmer but then wanted this to chamfer and deburr. But works great for trimming in medium quantities and its fast to setup. Great Video

There are 3D printed adapters you can get for straight walled brass. But, yes, it is generally not necessary to trim straight walled brass.

I like mine but as you mention, the difficulties with 300 BLK leave me looking for another solution. Not only is the case very short and hard to hold onto but the shoulder is so small that the indexing collar ring thing doesn't sit as it should. I contacted them to see if they had suggestions or were looking to address the issues but I just got a standard reply of nothing. I think they are really missing a huge market with so many people converting 5.56 brass to 300 BLK.

I want to address the problem of trimming 300 blackout or any other cartridges that are hard to hold while trimming. I’ll try to make this short, I don’t have the strength in my hands that I used to. I discovered that I could use a Lee hand priming tool to hold the case while trimming it and it works great. I do prime the cases before I trim and this allows the priming tool to grip the case securely. I’m working on modifying the priming tool so you don’t have to prime first. I will post the results of that later but for now I suggest you give this method a try if you’re having trouble gripping the cases.

Ì know this is old but Lyman makes what you need it's part of there case trim accessories you put your shell holder in it and it locks your case to the shell holder and gives you something to hold it's the perfect tool for that machine.

Just bought this unit to replace a POS Lyman case prep xpress. All of the gears on the Lyman product are made of plastic or similar material. The central drive gear lost about 80% of the gear teeth. Lyman will not sell the gears, so it's a dead product. I'm hoping the gears on the Frankford Arsenal product are metal of some sort. Does anyone know about this?
@mikeadams8293
@mikeadams8293 4 жыл бұрын
What material are the gears made from? I bought a Hornady case chamfering and de-burring tool and found out (after using it twice!) that the gears turning the tool heads are made from plastic or nylon!! This was not a cheaply priced unit (I believe I paid about $140-$150 for this POS) and two of the gears broke in half while chamfering some mil-spec brass! I have been disappointed with tools before but this one was aggravating in the extreme!! Again what a POS!!
@OreGear
@OreGear 4 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about the material but I’d imagine it’s meta. I’ve done thousands of cases at this point and no signs of wear on the machine.

Never understood the expression for tightening or loosening. However for right hand threads curl the fingers of your right hand with thumb extended. Point your thumb in the direction you want the bolt or nut to go. Your fingers represent the way you should turn the object to go in the direction your thumb is pointing. For left hand threads you just use you left hand in the same way.
@Pappy7064
@Pappy7064 Жыл бұрын
What if you don't have a left hand and you want to take the nut off? I'll always end up turning towards the fingers on my right hand which will tighten it. Hence the righty tighty lefty losey (turn it to the right to tighten or to the left to loosen for normal threaded nuts and bolts) or clockwise to tighten counterclockwise to loosen. If it is one of those foreign threaded nuts and bolts (threaded to counteract the torque of the turning motor) do the opposite of righty tighty lefty losey which would be lefty tighty righty losey. Simple. Your explanation is not very handicapped friendly. I'm calling the ADA police on you.
