I laughed out loud at the beginning of your video as you struggled with the really heavy box. My press delivered on the only day in months that I was out of town, and my wife calls me and says there is a box on the doorstep that is too heavy for her to move. I said that she was just being silly and that the box only weighed 65 lbs so she could at least just slide it into the hallway. She said she couldn't and I accused her of being over dramatic, ha. She ended up asking the next door neighbor for help. I got home the next day and am still apologizing. Thanks for your video.

I really love all my Frankford Arsenal reloading tools. I use their hand priming tool, their powder funnel kit, and their micrometer seating die, on 90% of my rifle hand loads. And my first ever digital scale was a Frankford Arsenal pocket scale, which I still have, and last time I checked it, it read exactly the same as my more expensive RCBS Chargemaster. If I ever get a progressive press, it will probably be that one.

I do need some general advice. Shooting a new 30-06 with a 1:11 twist. In the range of 150 to 180 weight bullets. What would be a good powder to start with IMR 4350, IMR 4064? The old fellow that taught me to reload has since passed away. Good video!
@peterhert9350 Жыл бұрын
IMR 4350. Get the online manual from Hodgdon and the online manual from vihtavuori ( to compare powder and data).

I use ( Europpe) vihtavuori, RWS, Reload Swiss and IMR. So I have several solutions. I recommend the program Qickload for calculating.

There are many great powders from which to choose for medium bullet weights in the venerable 30-06 that extend far and wide beyond what was available 35 years ago. While the powders you cited are terrific, don't feel constrained to IMR powders. I have become very fond of the Reloder series of powders by Alliant, and R-19 is superb in the '06, as well as slightly faster R-17 and slower R-22. Hodgdon H-414, though discontinued, is still available and is one of the most efficient and accurate. Big Game is another popular choice. Hodgdon H4350, H4895, BL-C(2), H335, and Varget are all top choices.

Seems like something they should have put into a couple of boxes. I enjoy listening to the Cardinals play ball and cranking out loads on my Dillon Square Deal b. I do not think I could shoot as many bullets as this Franklin is going to crank out. I do not do wasteful mag dumps. Well, maybe a little, Cowboy Action Shooting has me shooting 10 rounds in a few seconds from different guns. Still, less than 150 rounds per six stage match.

Nice press, I was in the market for a progressive press a year ago, and considered the x10 but there were not too many options from any manufacturer in stock, and I ended up getting an rl1100. It is a nice machine but crazy expensive. Mine is set up for 9mm with lyman Pro dies. Never got a bad round from it. I would recommend those dies so you can separate all the stages of reloading, and the expanding die expands the case (9mm) further down the case to work better with cast bullets and not swag the bullets down while seating. I have reloaded for 10 years on a single stage and turret, and the rl1100 was a steep learning curve. Thanks for making videos like this. Because this really helps people figure this stuff out, I was watching videos while setting mine up for all the tricks.

Benny has no anxiety issues. He's a very relaxed, but social dog who looks forward to his traditional daily events throughout the day, and is very outspoken when it's time for me to get with the program! He knows what time it is, but occasionally moves his clock forward, especially after I've been working on a project for a while. I'd say that he's taking care of me and wants me to take a break. 😃
