QUESTION: What prevents the primer dial from actuating, and potentially doubling up, if there is not a case being ran through the press in a single position of the shell plate? …is the primer dial case-actuated? …is there a primer dump if a shell is not ran in the shell plate? I’m very curious Thanks for all the great vids, Gavin!! Keep it up!!!

I can't wait! The priming system sounds amazing with visual check capability. I really respect the taking the time to get it right, but it sure is starting to seem like vaporware. I believe I've been on the waiting list for a year and a half or more now. Can't even remember. We've been waiting a LOOOOOOONG time now and promised dates keep passing and the price keeps rising. Already have a super 1050 and other progressive presses, but this looks the best short of a Mark 7. I hope you can at least release some to beta testers soon!!

I have been waiting for this release since early spring 2022! I was told July 2022 before these would be available to the public; it is now September 2022 and it seems they are no closer to releasing these bad boys! When can we expect these? The price of ammo is just untenable and, although reloading material is also pricey, the delta still leans towards reloading as the best savings.

After sending a question to Frankford Arsenal about the delivery of the X-10 press I received the message in response today, and it seems to counter-dict the data in your video. On 8/9/2022 2:00 PM, Frankford Arsenal Case Email wrote: > Currently there is not set release date on these units. We have an estimated first stock in November so it is more then likely around that time but for now that is just an estimation with no set date. If this is the case, what is your object in having the release on KZbin that your employee was said the release was coming up in the next few months. WHY is your company publishing false information to the public. Are you just acting as having a product, to reduce the demand on the manufacturer of the APEX press?

I do have a question, can the powder drop be moved from the station its in? I find that dedicating a station to just case expansion a wasted space. Would love to put the powder drop into position 6, check in 7, bullet feed 8, bullet seat 9, final crimp in 10. Still the front runner to replace my 550B.
@jamesa5720 Жыл бұрын
I wondered the same thing as I don't want to combine seat and crimp in one die...did you ever get an answer? I do see in this video, however, that the proprietary bullet feeder (in development) is going to feed and seat in one station which would solve the problem as configured. After all these delays, I would have long ago brought this back to the good old USA for production and just raised the prices which they did anyway. People will pay for quality. Come on Frankford, a month or two delay is one thing, but two years or more is ridiculous and is costing them more than it would to just have produced here anyway.
@calgarysparky Жыл бұрын
@@jamesa5720 no, never did. I've been following on the FB page and I've been told something is coming to address this, but that's all. So we will see. Forcing a product on you to get what you own to do what you want will turn ppl off. I already have a bullet feeder and if I can't use it with powder check, this press will be off the list. They are having teething pains, but FA has been right on top of them and making changes asap. So there's that, heh.
@JeffinTD Жыл бұрын
Not combining powder drop and neck expansion seemed like a waste to me, too. I wonder if there was a patent issue. You’d think it could also have been built so station 1 does more than insert, say insert/decap.

The depriming situation here reminds me of the old joke about NASA's 1M$ project of a ballpen working in zero gravity. The Soviets used pencils instead. Decapping on a progressive (fully - from a case to finished product) press is a losing battle. First it means a lot of rubbish sprinkled generously over all the precision mechanics of the press, shortening its lifespan. Regular guys like their equipment to last. Secundo - there is still a lot of gunk (possibly even wet and/or with sand) in the primer pocket after decapping. This may lead to hang-fires and other mishaps. There are excellent choices of dedicated depriming equipment, some even by Frankford Arsenal. For me it is a must, especially with wet tumbling / ultrasonic cleaning. Rinsing and drying brass with old primers still in - never again.
@JeffinTD Жыл бұрын
Yeah. I like to keep my 1050 clean and well lubed. Since switching to decapping prior to wet pin tumbling, the 1050 runs longer and smoother between cleanings. A Lee APP fed by a Dillon feeder and driven by an air cylinder will decap quickly and efficiently- and when things wear out from gritty cases, parts (and the whole APP) are dirt cheap.

I like this reloader. My current reloader is the Hornady L n L AP. I like its simplicity as a novice reloader. My concern is whether or not the X-10 will be too complicated for me. All of the demos I’ve watched have been done by extremely knowledgeable, experienced reloaders. Just not certain what to do? Cheers!
@deankaras83599 ай бұрын
I graduated from a lock an load to an X10. The principles are all the same but like the LnL it’s got quirks. I’ve had mine a month now and am getting past the learning curve of what to do when it jams. I love the case feeder works soooo much better and having 2 decapper stations is great. Now for the downside. The ram mechanism is so beefy and strong that it is tearing up the much less robust indexing mechanism. Happens if jammed up and just put to much pressure on the handle trying to free it up. It’s an easy part swap to fix but be prepared to wait on hold hours to talk to the SINGLE technician on duty for customer support, and then they want pictures to prove it’s broken. I might consider waiting a few months till they come out with a fix.
