You can tell original Wire fans from new fans by how they identify Aiden Gillan. Us old fans saw him as Tommy Carcetti first, so that's how I always remember him. Don't matter how good he was as Littlefinger, that will always be Tommy C. to me.
@monadreher24283 күн бұрын
This 😂 I was surprised af seeing him on GoT back when it first started airing. While absolutely very good in both roles I always give his performance as Carcetti more applause. Carcetti is basically a character that's left for the viewer's interpretation and that 's largely successful to Aiden's acting.
@SomahCorp2 күн бұрын
Didn't even knew the actor's name when I saw GoT. So to me it was "Damn', WTF is Carcetti doing in here ?"

Yeah he'll always be Carcetti.. but when I saw they cast him as Littlefinger I knew they'd made the perfect pick for the role!

Always enjoyed the contradiction in that scene when Stringer gets angry. He's talking about business and moving on from that old school mentality, but when he's challenged it's straight back to aggression and intimidation. Hard to let that stuff go.

After the Wire you should watch “The Corner” and “We Own This City” both by David Simon and both just six episodes. The Corner was the precursor/inspiration for the Wire. We Own This City came out a few years ago, takes place in Baltimore in the 2010’s and is about a corrupt police unit, also a true story. Both series have many actors from the Wire.
@moonlight-sunriize2 күн бұрын

Among all the brilliant things that this season provides Hamsterdam is the standout plot for me. Just so original and unique especially for a "cop show". Watching this back in real time was truly quite an experience. It just sucked to barely have anyone to talk about it with 😂 Well back then anyway.

idk if anyone said it but the whole "cole stairmaster" was there way to tribute the actor. He passed while filming and this was there way to "end" his character in the show.

That Deacon, the church man who was talking to Bunny in eps 2 saying the drug war is rsking leaves on a windy day. He was Little Melvin, a real-life inspiration for Avon Barksdale's character.

@@FrankFreezy_ many of the characters in the show are composites of real people David Simon and Ed Burns knew from their time as crime reporter and homicide cop respectively. And the opposite also happens and a lot of real people also find their way into the show. Some more examples are to come this very season, but remember Brother Mouzone's bodyguard? The actor who played him was named DeAndre McCullough, and his real life story is the primary focus of David Simon's previous show, The Corner. He was the son of drug addicts and became a drug dealer himself growing up. It's also a great show to watch, focusing more on the street side of things, but it uses a lot of the cast of the wire, only with roles reversed. Everyone you see playing a cop on the wire, played a drug dealer or a drug addict in the Corner and vice versa.
