What a series! Thank you for the thoughtful reactions. I will definitely check out some of your other ones, I'm a big fan of Hannibal and Derry Girls. Btw- love the inclusion of AOT in your outro :)

Hey Frank 😁 I'm sure your patrons have already answered your question about Milo, but I'm gunna try and explain below for anyone else who also didn't know about it. Milo is a powdered form of milk flavouring that was formulated in Australia during the great depression to give kids a boost of nutrients that a lot of them lacked in their diet at the time due to scarcity of resources. (Mostly A, B and D vitamins, with some minerals like iron and calcium). It's a chocolate and malt base combined with milk solids and sugar like a combo of Drinking Cocoa and Ovaltine but (in my humble opinion) far more tasty and has a crunchy grainy quality to it that adds a delicious texture. It's original use would be mixed in either cold milk, warm milk, or milk with boiling water. The packaging "recommends" a couple of heaped teaspoons of Milo for a full cup of your liquid of choice, but really you measure that shit with your heart, and there are internet memes of some of the most gratuitous "heaped teaspoons" you've ever seen out there ❤️ The fun part for most people with Milo is that it won't get completely dissolved in cold milk even with a lot of stirring, but instead of sinking to the bottom and becoming a sickly sweet syrup, the granules float to the top with the foam and you scoop it out for satisfying crunch factor as you drink it. The way Sam talks about making Milo is actually one of the better god-tier styles; by making the paste at the bottom it creates a dissolvable portion of Milo that flavours the rest of the milk evenly without needing to stir like your life depends on it. Then, once you've poured the full cup you want, you sprinkle Milo like a choc-shaker garnish over the top. That way you maximise both flavour and crunch elements with least amount of physical effort 👌 It's not just an Australian thing, it's super big in places like Malaysia and Singapore (among other places around the globe) and it's become such a beloved flavouring that it's been incorporated into iced drinks, coffee, desserts, cereals, snack bars and a bunch of other foods that people have gotten creative with in adding into their own recipes. Personally, I use it as a substitute for drinking chocolate in the mochas I make for myself each morning and that's been my regular routine since I started highschool 👍 10/10 would recommend hahaha

This is great! Thanks for reacting to these! If you'll be watching interviews with actors I definitely recommend Autumn Brown's interviews (they all are gold imo😄) and Maven of the Eventide's interview with Levan Akin who directed some episodes of the show. Also there's a fun interview with "Vampire Sam" - The IWTV Superfan Roundtable w/ Christopher Geary "Samuel Barclay"

This movie is a great lesson too on how greed consumes you like a fire and hurts everything around you. Add alcoholism to that mix and you have a recipe for rage, violence, and despair.

one thing that strikes me with this movie is the lack of soundtrack, there’s very minimal music in the movie and it just makes it hit harder

That stand in- in the beginning with the dark hair is a jab/easter egg at the movie Queen of the Damned. The actor that played Lestat in that movie was a similar type, with dark hair, which obviously isn't what Lestat is supposed to look like at all. 😅

Now that you’re finished with Fleabag, I have a few suggestions for smaller series with half-hour episodes: first of you can check out Phoebe’s earlier one-season show, “Crashing,” which isn’t as deep as Fleabag, but is a lot of fun and full of the similar memorable characters. Then you can check out a mind-blowing British show called “I May Destroy You.” I heard you mention “The Good Place.” Yes! Well worth watching. And also a Netflix show called “Dead to Me,” which is a thriller and absolutely hilarious but is also a show about mourning.

12:56 Vampire Lestat was first read to me when i was 6 years old by my older sister, i watched the movie for the first time when i was 5 because i was the same age as book Claudia (my mom let me watch it, but she covered my eyes sometimes) and i bought myself vampire Armand book at my 11th birthday, the vampire chronicles have been my whole life, seeing Sam Reid as Lestat felt like "holy shit he's real" moment and the fact that Sam was also a fan of the books since he was a kid just made me certain he was born and destined to be him. I love the movie Lestat, I read the books and saw him in my imagination. But Sam is The Lestat, no other book character on screen has lived that prominently through an actor for me, it's really like he's possesed. I hope Sam knows what he did for all the fans, so grateful for this cast, man.

The “German three” is an example of a shibboleth, a pronunciation or custom that distinguishes one group from another. Shibboleth itself simply means the ear of a grain plant but in a story in the Hebrew Bible, the pronunciation of the word is used to identify and kill members of one of the 12 tribes of Israel who are trying to cross the Jordan. I thought that was an interesting parallel, in the context of Nazi occupied France.

I was watching another reaction to Ted Lasso, but they only do one ep a week and I just couldn't wait, and there you were in the bar on the side. I started with ep 1 S 1 and realised that you were a fellow African - I'm from South Africa - so I don't see very many African content creators and I watched the whole ep and decided that I love your insightful commentary. I really enjoy watching reactions where the reactor relates bits and pieces of the show to his own life experiences. I also loved hearing your take on the way the Africans were depicted, and hearing your views on life, the universe and everything that was touched on in this marvellous series. I binged all 3 seasons in like 4 days. It remains one of my all time fav TV shows. I'll be going through your back log and seeing if there's another I want to binge watch, so keep up the good work!

Martin’s monologue was a genuine moment of honesty from him in my opinion . Up until this point, Martin has been painted as a largely one-dimensional antagonist-one of the few one dimensional "bad" people in the series (you can argue that boo is seen as a one-dimensional "good" person but this, in my opinion, is because she is seen through rose tinted flashbacks). His brief moment of honesty forces us to confront the layered uncomfortable reality that he’s a broken person trying, and failing, to love in a way that keeps people close rather than driving them away. It disrupts our moral certainty and humanises someone we’ve been conditioned to dislike. We are forced to empathise, even momentarily, with him. It's all part of the series' theme of flawed humanity (although, to be fair, he is still ultimately a douche bag in my humble opinion).

Fleabag is a love story - of self love and sisterly love. As someone with a sibling - “the only person I’d run through an airport for is you” moves me to tears. The dad pointing out the similarities between Fleabag and her mum is such a nice callback to season 1 episode 1 where he says something similar which is meant as a dismissal of Fleabag’s genuine cry for help, but here it is meant sincerely and as a compliment- serves as a nice indicator for the growth of that relationship too. Even the “smiles and charm” line is one her father says to her after her mum died, which is a shoe in for all the feelings they have for each other but can never express because emotional constipation and britishness. Also, I’ve also wondered if the fox could represent the baggage from the Priest’s previous life, before he found the church, and it hints at his alcoholism and promiscuity and whatever else he struggled/struggles with, which is why it haunts him the way it does.
@aydenkelly62748 сағат бұрын
Oh I love that idea about the fox! It is the part of him that he is afraid still wants to scavenge for comfort in unsavoury, marginal places even as he strives for God's love, painfully alone.
