Thanks Frank! I went out 2 hours ago to get this done after getting the parts from O Reilly earlier and found out one of my lug nuts were stripped and of course I have every socket in the world but the one that fits and fought to get it off for 2 hours with no luck 😂. Gunna do it this weekend. I’ll be back to watch. Thanks for the great and detailed video, this is my first time trying this. You made it super easy to follow!

Great video! Step by step I needed this. I'm like another viewer below. I have worked on my cars before but brakes will be a new learning experience. I work pizza delivery and over the last few shifts my Camry has started showing signs it needs new brakes at least the front ones. For a driver car care is obviously very important and I'd like to save as much money as I can on labor. Gonna change mine out tomorrow when I have day light. Thanks Brother ✌

Use Sil-Glyde Silicone brake lubricant for the slider bolts, Not never seize. Don't use the regular brake grease either as the grease will swell the rubber O rings on each of the slider bolts. You can use the brake grease on the pads ears so they slide. Pls use gloves as to protect your fingers. You are dressed too clean for this dirty job. You have good teaching skills!

The 02-06 Toyota Camry had a suspension system redesign. So the parts are different 2002 vs 2006. I don't know what year the change took place.

OEM hardware is better. If it's not in bad shape, I clean with skinny brass brush & lube. But if it's not OEM, yeah, change out for new hardware.

@FrankGuest

Carl Brown You do not need an expensive jack. As long as your only going to use it on a car. Something inexpensive like this from Walmart will work. www.walmart.com/ip/Pro-Lift-F-767-Grey-Low-Profile-Floor-Jack-2-Ton-Capacity/28087370?athcpid=28087370&athpgid=athenaItemPage&athcgid=null&athznid=collection&athieid=v0&athstid=CS020&athguid=914d76fa-60f-16b4dd8b157b89&athena=true

Why not use the new clips??
@FrankGuest
@FrankGuest 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. In the past I have used the aftermarket clips. They dont always fit properly. I have had to grind several to fit so they dont have scrape against the rotor. So if the old ones are not bent up or rusted, I clean them off and leave them in place.

I'm a professional mechanic and I never use the old hardware for one it comes with new hardware so use it and my shop would fire you if you used the old over again plus I would feel like a hack if I used the old hardware over.

Blake Waddell Hey Blake. Thanks for the comment. I’m no professional mechanic. I just like to wrench on my cars a bit. When you say you always replace hardware. Are you referring the the bolts and the clips in the calipers or just the clips? I only replace the bolts if the kit I buy comes with new bolts or if one snaps when I’m removing it. I have heard from other mechanics that the clips in the calipers can stay as well as long that they are not F’ed up. Just spray some brake cleaner on them and stick them back in. I always replace them if I’m doing calipers but not if I’m just doing pads. Should they be replaced regardless of their condition??

Those non oem brake kits come with shims that don't always fit properly. He did the right thing to reuse the originals. A step up would have been to take them out and sand them or file lightly then replace.

Safety! Safety! Safety! I don't see any jack stands,??? If you're not a mechanic why are you making a video???? Let the professionals make videos. If you make a video and a enthusiast watches what you tried to teach and tought wrong its on you mate. In future use gloves and a pry bar or long screw driver to pry rusty stuff off. Wrong again all bolts have a torque specification. Bad advice. Torque specs can be googled you just need to know the thread pitch and size ie course fine thread... bolts used to force out rotor/disc away from hub are 5/16 18 length 1" Your just changing out parts you're not giving advice on any problems that may cause defects ie worn rotor spec seized calipers, wheel lugs nut torque specs etc etc....

I am definitely not a mechanic. Just wondering if should pull the top off the master cylinder when you're compressing the calipers? Maybe to force the air out of the top?
