Fabulous interview shame it's so short, Frankie Howerd's such a great character, so interesting, and funny. Mavis Nicholson, is gorgeous.

Frankie Howerd interview | The War years! | Good Afternoon | 1976 do you know the guys who collate this site? as it would have been easier just adding a complete show... this is what tv is missing - chat shows or afternoon louche sofa-land tv... why is she sat there as though she's been punched, flickering her eyes... stage struck, perhaps.. or is this meeting spliced?

Sorry@@JJONNYREPP I just now saw your comment. I would have asked Mavis about it but sadly she died last year, she was a brilliant lady. She was same character on set as of set. Hours would slip by chatting with her and before I knew it , it was gone midnight. Her husband Geoff was a wonderful man. He wrote a book about cycling. Mavis sent me a copy. "The Great Bike Race"

@@StevePhillips Frankie Howerd interview | The War years! | Good Afternoon | 1976. 27.9.23. erm.... that's nice. I was here due to a vile nostalgic urge to engage with Good old regional TV. that aspect of telly worked well in the UK. for the size of the nation, you'd think it easy for regional TV to market it's wares. not so... regional TV is dead. and, sadly.... it seems so is old MN. the way these guys interview a person, though... it seems so edited that you'd the questions were created to fit the initial celebrity waffle.

I remember many years ago when i worked in Kensington. I was walking up the high street and Frankie walked out of a restaurant. He gave me a look, and I being shy, carried on walking. He followed me all the way up the high street. Frightened me to death ! 😂😂

'That wasn't Edith Evans, that was John Gielgud'. I don't blame the man behind the camera for laughing out loud. I did too.

frankie onomnibus just before he passed revealed that he hated interviews and live shows.he couldnt ad lib every sentence and off the cuff remark was practised over and over. the result was so convincing that most people thought he made it up as he went along so good was he.probably why he appears nervous.
