Glad I saw Jersey Boys twice a few years back. Got a commemorative poster from show with all original actors signatures on it too ! :-) Frankie Vali & Four Seasons was first concert I ever purchased a ticket for in fact as young teen, but I gave that to my older sister & brother-in-law at the time to go see ... :-(

I really like Frankie’s response about why he thought Jersey Boys was “important.” He cared only that it reached the masses. That was enough for him. He didn’t try to tell the masses what was important. He just wanted to reach them and allowed and respected them enough to judge for themselves what they found important in his work, if that makes sense

I got to see Frankie Valli and the 4Seasons at Bally’s in Las Vegas about 32 years ago, they had co-headlined with the 4Tops, it was one of the best shows in Vegas I ever saw….

I can understand that he had some issues w/ the movie. A lot of big scenes from the play had to be cut, but that's just a flaw of the medium. At least, he seems to have come to terms w/ it.

I saw the play on 52nd street a few weeks ago and the movie last week. The movie for me didn't work as a screen adaptation like Greese and Eastwood was probably the wrong director. I saw a Scorsese movie screaming to come out for some reason. More grit, more mob, more music, less stagey.

Idk what you two are talking about. I thought the movie was very good. Obviously it can't get real deep into their lives, there's just not enough time to do it in 2hr+ script. But I thought it captured their music career very well.

I love that a play and a movie were done about my favorite group growing up. Over the years, I've attended at least half a dozen of their live concerts. Never ONCE did I see them in a choreographed dance mode as shown in the movie. It was never that stiff. Frankie would have his right hand in his suit pants pocket and the microphone in his left. Bob always stood at the piano/electronic organ with his head turned to the side facing the audience. Tommy and Nicky were always together out front with their guitars. In the early years, I never saw a drummer. Maybe Bob had a program on his organ that played the drums, I don't know. Perhaps the drummer was backstage on a microphone??? I was happy to see in the movie some of their background years, but disappointed that they felt it necessary to include Bob's "coming of age" scene. If they were going to do one, why not all four? Having been a fan since I was 13, that kind of put a sour note on it all. The music was alright, but could never compare with the real thing!
