My husband would sing this to me when I would be driving him to DT Chicago for his chemo treatments. I sang it back to him every morning and night for 8 months when I was connecting his nutrition line. He died a week before our 40th anniversary. I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful song and this great memory of our love for each other.

Okay, just so I understand, you're saying THIS is the actual real version originally sung by Frankie Valli, but there are covers floating around YT and people can't tell the difference?? That's crazy! I was born in 1965, the year this song came out, and I remember being a toddler in 1967-1968 listening to this song. (Yes, I actually have memories from that far back.) And I can definitely tell the difference between the original and Morten Harket's cover.
@OfficialDeVinyl5 жыл бұрын
Rob Adams I know right , I’m only 16 and I can still till Frankie’s voice from miles away, even from the trumpets in the intro I can tell what version it is. I recently got the chance to hang out with him backstage (look at my channel to see it). We got really lucky. So great to hear from a fan that’s been there for Frankie for so long .

Introduced this song to my 2 year old son. He screams “I love you baby” during the chorus. Love how this song and all music can impact generation after generation. Thank you for posting this!
@katc23454 жыл бұрын
adorable comment!!!
@shirleypena41334 жыл бұрын
@Evelio DLeon Sadly, that is the way most people sing this song at ANY age, lol. They think they have to scream out the chorus at the top of their voice, when actually the chorus is the least important part of the song's depth of feeling. For the many people-both famous and not so famous-who have performed this song, almost no one performs it properly, other than the great Frankie Valli. The closest any other singer has come to Valli (when they performed this song) is another classic Italian/American singer who-like Valli-possesses great phrasing: Frank Sinatra. The song requires a very skilled singer who is capable of both genuine tenderness and a delicate touch, someone with GREAT phrasing who REALLY knows how to bring out the song's depth of feeling. However, most singers these days think THE way to sing an emotional song is to bellow out at the top of their register, especially at the chorus. This is what gets them on shit shows like 'America's Got Talent' instead of training them to be singers whose voice will remain timeless, like that of Frankie Valli's. Your son is far too young right now to understand any of this, so by all means let him scream out the chorus at the top of his little lungs. However, when he gets old enough to understand what makes a REAL singer, if you truly want to give him a gift that will last him a lifetime, a gift he can pass from generation to generation, teach him how to PROPERLY sing. It's one thing to pass a song along from generation to generation, it's quite another to pass on the ability to properly sing, so one can hear a song the way it was intended by the song's composer to be heard and understood.
@dleoner14 жыл бұрын
Shirley Pena thank you, what started as me sharing a wholesome moment quickly turned into a three paragraph lecture on how my two year old son SHOULD sing a song and how I should parent him. I’ll assume many will agree with the way you’ve come off: condescending, know-it-all, cold, and with ZERO compassion. Here’s a couple facts about me: I can’t sing but I know good music, hence the reason I’m here. Although I wouldn’t know how to to teach my son to hold a tune, I can teach him two things: what good music is and how to read shitty people. With that being said, I’ll continue to introduce my son to amazing music but most importantly, I’ll make sure to teach him how avoid people like you. You and every other negative Nancy (or Shirley) simply aren’t worth his time or energy. It’s a song, Shirley, and he’s a two year old boy. He has a loving family who will do everthing they can to protect him. Whether it’s protection from Cardi B lyrics or from the Shirley Pena’s of the world who want to download all their insecurities on him, I’m going to be there for my son. Do us all a favor: turn off your router, read a book, plant a garden, call up an old friend, do some breathing, but by all means, try changing who the current Shirley is. This version of you absolutely sucks.

A rant from me. My husband took his own life in February and when he was hospitalized, I was crying holding his hand and this song started playing on the random playlist that was on ringing on my cell phone, and I understood, it was time to let him go. And shortly afterwards I saw him pass away, holding his hand and with a lot of pain in my heart. And that pain is still here. Because she never goes away, she will always be there, i can try, but the grief will always persist, when i think of him, the grief returns and i cry. But we need to understand, that sometimes it's better that way... It could be different, but if it wasn't, there's a reason.❤ I love you Mahmoud forever, you will always be the love of my hole life❤

Lyrics You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off of you You'd be like Heaven to touch I wanna hold you so much At long last, love has arrived And I thank God I'm alive You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off of you Pardon the way that I stare There's nothin' else to compare The sight of you leaves me weak There are no words left to speak But if you feel like I feel Please let me know that it's real You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off of you I love you, baby And if it's quite alright I need you, baby To warm the lonely night I love you, baby Trust in me when I say Oh, pretty baby Don't bring me down, I pray Oh, pretty baby Now that I've found you, stay And let me love you, baby Let me love you You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off of you You'd be like Heaven to touch I wanna hold you so much At long last, love has arrived And I thank God I'm alive You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off you I love you, baby And if it's quite alright I need you, baby To warm the lonely night I love you, baby Trust in me when I say Oh, pretty baby Don't bring me down, I pray Oh, pretty baby Now that I've found you, stay Oh, pretty baby Trust in me when I say Oh, pretty baby

I love how after the half step up modulation the original key is brought back in the interlude. Great tune.

Beautiful music, reminds me of my youth in the 70s and the movie The Deer Hunter. I'm always whistling this song.

This is the second best song whose title begins with "Can't". Number one spot belongs to Can't Help Falling in Love. Thank God for Elvis Presley.

I just saw two "reaction" videos to this song, and it wasn't even Frankie singing! It was some guy off the Coneheads soundtrack? What? You could tell it wasn't him, though, but it showed a pic of Frankie and the guys. What gives? THIS is the real deal. That voice is unmistakable. Classic.

This beautiful song always reminds me being a little kid , sitting in the back seat of the car on our way to the beach, my parents looking very 1967 with the sunglasses, attire, and hair styles

Each time that 'intense climax' chorus comes haha the whole world is alive ❤ 😊 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ! The 'Evelio DLeon' babe singer shows 💕 much love to his father! Thanks much ❤ 😊 to @ RHINO for sharing.

Great song. I’m a bit older but this was often cranking on my parents record player in the 70’s -80’s. My dad loves these guys. Great music.

C spit, you have great taste in music! Unfortunately, what passes for "music" these days to me sounds like tribal chanting around a campfire. Music like this in the 60's - 80's relied on vocals that were pure talent. I'm not sure why love songs are no longer popular, but I sure miss them....😔
