Thanks for the concise explanation. Got this at HD yesterday, and it's definitely a better stud finder than my previous. I tend to get paranoid when hanging anything over 5 lbs (TVs, coat hangers, fold-away work desk, etc.), so not only finding the necessary studs, but the stud centers, does a lot to put me at ease. My latest project (which prompted me to buy this) is a 35-lb curtain fan I'll be placing over the door to the garage. This jumps to the front of the line of hazards on the wall in my home, so want to be sure I get it right.

For those of you wondering, I had a viewer ask me if it would go through a tiled shower wall, I tried it and YES it works through a tiled shower wall to locate the studs.

I received one of these from Amazon yesterday and didn't realize I was refurbished ! I forgot I looked at the used ones and that's my fault... refurbished. Why did I get this refurbished unit when I can put several more dollars with it and get a new one!?!?! Home Depot sells the new ones for less money than Amazon. I have the M70 and I can't seem to get an answer and that is when going across the wall why at one point does ALL the lights light up and then go off when you move it. What is it detecting? Thank you

Hi there, first I thank you for watching my video. I know that’s an error type behavior. Nothing wrong with your unit, it’s simply behaves that way when the wall it’s scanning is solid beyond its capability. Or multiple objects behind that section of the wall. I know this because I’ve had mine behave that way in the past. If it does that more often than now, I would contact the manufacturer and I’m sure they’d be happy to replace it for you.

What does the green light mean? I have the same stud finder, the middle sensor light turns green and idk why, thank you.

Hi, mine doesn’t have the green light, but I would have to guess it basically stands for the center of the stud. So whenever you see the green light. You know that’s dead center.

Say you want to put grab bars in a tiled to the ceiling shower. Can it find studs behind tile?

Although I must say that will be going through not just tiles but also the gypsum board, so we’ll have to see if it can stand up to that.

UPDATE !! Great news ! I just tried it over my tiled shower walls and YES it located the studs. I was honestly impressed it did. I’m glad you asked the question.

@@goldbearbunny4787 sorry to hear that. I’ve had mine for a while now and it has worked great every time. Maybe you just picked up a defective one. I wouldn’t give up on it just yet. Maybe try an exchange.
