Been using one of these for 4+ yrs. Very accurate, let a electrician use it 2 weeks ago and he said it's the best he ever used. We were marking studs to cut in new electric boxes.

I have been using this stud sensor for about 10 or more years. I am an electrician. I carry it in my tool bag. Quick and easy! I have several different stud sensors but this is the one I always use first. No calibtration, just put on the wall, push the button and you will find the studs quickly.

Very informative video with good demonstration. I'm thinking of buying the Franklin Sensors ProSensor M210 which has more LEDs and Sensors and is considered more accurate. Your model seems to be working good in finding studs, but the confusion of detecting a metal pipe, even after you pushed it into the wall a little, seems a little concerning. Do you have any experience or knowledge of the M210? The claim that it should be more accurate in detecting things because of the number of LEDs and Sensors makes sense, but does it also give false alarms on metal pipes?

I returned the M210 because it wasn't very reliable in detecting electric and less accurate in detecting studs than the 710. For electric I use the DeWalt DW0100. The M210 has the same 13 sensors as the 710 but with more LED windows. I didn't like the extra LEDs because once you get past the 2 end lights it lights a minimum of five windows. This is prob why they say more accurate but it doesn't work that way in reality. I also don't like the 710-plus because I didn't like/need a bubble level making it thicker so the 710 is the simplest unit that gets it done. I also didn't like the little M150. I carry the 710 and the DW0100. I didn't test the M210 on pipes but it should be the same as the 710 as they probably use the same 13 sensors. All this is just my experience.

Sometimes I need to drill into drywall to put an anchor so I am looking for a stud finder that detects all wires and pipes.. any recommendations?

Is this the same one as the green Costco profinder 7000+? I just got one, but it doesn't seem to be very accurate. LEDs seem to be going off randomly as well as the live wire sensor. I've tried in the garage walls and interior walls of my home and my neighbors and it still doesn't work right.

Haven't tried that model but they all seem to be the same concept. You can see in this review how one of the 710 units went off randomly as well. That said, when the tell tale 3 rolling bars appeared there was a stud or pipe so it was accurate and usable but annoying. The second 710 I got still works without false flashing and I use it regularly. I bought a couple of their live wire units and they worked but were a little false flashy too so I returned them. I don't need live wire detection most of the time. If I do I have the slim DeWalt DW0100, which works well if you want to check that out. Good luck.

The fact that it doesn't distinguish objects is insane to me. Like, I'm a DIY homeowner. I dont want to think I'm drilling into a stud and hitting a live wire or water pipe because I don't know better.

no, just tried it on a fresh asphalt shingle roof overhang and it was a hot mess of lights flashing. The shingles are on a 1/2" plywood deck.

@toolrev ok cool thank you, I was just worried it wouldn't detect the metal studs as well as wood, I install Fire Sprinkler Piping in Commercial buildings an Most of them has Metal Studs, I will be getting one then. It will help me to know where to place my Sammys for my 3/8 allthread rod for pipe hangers and also help me when I have to run my pipe through finished walls so I dont run into a stud.

​@@jacobsebastien3910 I had the M150 along with the larger Franklin that detects electric and returned both but kept the 710. Neither read studs as well as the 710 and both were flaky on electric. Right now I use the DeWalt DW0100 for electric, which isn't great either.

I just purchased a Franklin 710+ from Amazon and it’s got to be defective. I go over a known stud location and three led’s light up and then more light up as I slowly sweep across. Very confused stud finder. Don’t trust it; going back to Amazon.

Franklin Sensors is the manufacturer, Prosensor 710 is just the model name.
