AND... he didn't cook turkey. Their Thanksgiving was popcorn, jellybeans, pretzel sticks and buttered toast. It's the whole point of the cartoon! Peppermint Patty complains about the meal and learns that the food itself doesn't matter. It's everyone coming together... and everyone includes Franklin.

The thing that made Newspaper!Franklin so important was the fact that he was normal. He was just there. Maybe not as a main character, but no one in the comic ever treated him differently, and at that time, that was the type of cultural image people needed.

havok6280 Hi,... In the U.S. "Whites can be bland".. haha.. and also 'Passively-Controlling' (as a group).. through Media; the work place; etc. -- naturally because they are the majority and not necessarily because they are bad.. The problem starts with 'cancer-like,' Beta piece of shits.. .. try to use that 'Passive-Control' (which is basically a more applied form of passive aggression).. .. to get ahead at the expense of other groups that they find threatening.. ... Thus, negative stereotypes develop over time.. especially, here in America.. but, that's just my personal thought.. KC.

... A brave German or British guy with the smallest, narrowest wiener on the planet is really standing completely naked infront of class (for educational purposes, I guess).. haha. ... And, I'll include this part because it sounds funny to me... Actions speak louder than repeated words or survey done by goofy, insecure, dead guys.. .. Just upload your little wiener up here on KZbin for educational purposes next time, instead of trying to survey other people, you BETA piece of shits.. Haha.. jk. .. no-one will believe a word you say otherwise... Reference: Just look up.. haha.

I remember Flashbeagle... it really was the most 80s thing Peanuts ever did. Whereas classics like "Snoopy Come Home" or "A Charlie Brown Christmas" were considered timeless, EVERYTHING about Flashbeagle screamed "1980s."

@Adrian Duran Franklin was added into Peanuts, so I'm confused about the point you're trying to make. So, are you saying that adding the Franklin character (the lone black kid) was somehow unnecessary? Please elaborate.

@Katie Coonley So, if the Franklin character was FIRST introduced in the most recent PEANUTS movie/show/comic strip rather than back in 1968, folks with progressive views would see this addition as irrelevant? I still don't see how the comment(s) make sense. There is still much racial, social, and economic issues that bleed into the entertainment industry. These eissues resonate throughout time until they are resollved. As of yet, they are not resolved, which is why these issues are still major touchy talking points.

Lowell Lucas Jr. Hi, that's a good way to think about it.. didn't think of it that way. I personally think that the illustrator might have drawn him one day, then drew everything else around that picture on another day.. to give him extra attention.. haha.. whether or not it was intentional.

Actually she wrote Charles Schultz several times, to ask about adding a Black character to ease racial tensions and normalize racial interactions. The result was that many Black kids across the nation gravitated to Franklin and saw themselves being included in society, if only for a short comic strip.

i guess its more "unfortunately unintentional." But the actor that played Zack did say the writers were specifically looking for a black actor that can integrate hip hop skils into martial arts. they were specifically looking for someone that could dance.
