I am a 73 year old Canadian lady who has had a wonderful life exploring North America. I loved your video. Last year I visited the Yukon and Alaska by car and loved every moment. What a beautiful country we have. Thank you for showing me an area that I will never see with my on eyes. Loved the video. Thanks again.

In 2003 I had the privilege of spending the summer working in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut which is on Victoria Island. The western portion of the island is part of the Northwest Territory. The eastern portion is Nunavut. The 24 hr day , the tundra, the sea coast, the lakes and rivers and mallards, eiders, Canada geese, Arctic char, foxes, seals and Musk oxen made for a majestic experience that is fresh on my mind 20 years later. Thanks for this video. To anyone reading this, if you ever have the opportunity to explore the Arctic do it-you’ll never regret it. 😊 PS all the cairns that Steve is talking about are known by the Canadian Inuit people as Inukshuk. They are constructed precisely to guide the way across the endless expanse.

Dear Steve. Thank you so much for taking us on this hike. As an Austrian, very often in the arctic, I love the mountains anyway. Looking at these beauties is a wonderful feeling and I think to climb up on the Mount Thor would be the greatest of all time. I could spend weeks in this wonderful area. My last destination was Svalbard, Bjornoia-Island and the Franz Joseph-Island. Thank you and I wish you all the best for the next hikes.

It’s amazing to see the difference in the glaciers from the 80s. Great video, me and my wife are sitting in Pangnirtung watching it, of course we love anything to do with Pangnirtung our home. I haven’t been up in the park in years. We generally head out into Cumberland sound and down island.

soooo nice! those peaks (Thor! Asgard!) and glacier valleys, the many river crossings and lakes, the solitude, and the changing weather and strong wind... it reminded me a lot of my place down under in Patagonia. This film was a pleasure to watch. greetings from wild, wet, windy and wonderful Western Patagonia, Chile

Enjoyed this glimpse of the park. I lived in the settlement of Broughton Island, the name I knew it by in 1974 to 1975. My husband did the trip in March of 1973 by skidoo, travelling south from Br, Is. to Pangnirtung, it was quite the adventure as they had to negotiate frozen falls at the end of the trip. Thankfully we have photos, not easy to get back in the 70’s when trying to keep your camera warm, inside your parka for body heat was the only chance of it working but hard to do on long overnight trips. Hope you get to repeat the trip by skidoo from the top end, perhaps in March/April while the pass is frozen, maybe not so many polar bears on the move at that time.

Fascinating. What an amazing opportunity for those of us who can't walk on the moraines and boulder fields. Very pleased that you were able to muffle the wind on the mike, which can ruin a video. Mount Asgard is spectacular from every angle. Some of the glaciers appeared to be covered with dark algae, probably the primitive Ancylonema, which I spent several years working on.

I can see Labrador across the Strait of Belle Isle from my place at the northern tip of Newfoundland. I love the scenery and landscapes there. Your walk through that Canadian National Park was incredible. What incredible beauty and what an amazing place to walk. And to be there alone. Wow! The north shore of the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland, where my place is, is considered the southern extent of the sub-arctic alpine biome. Had a polar bear show up one spring when I was there. Got a great shot of it out my bathroom window. One of my neighbors saw the bear cross the road near midnight on her way home from the second shift. She called the RCMP and Wildlife Officer and then, knowing that I went out walking in the morning by myself, she called me. So glad I had warning. She may have saved my life!

The shelter at Windy Lake is on the opposite side of the Weasel River because that is where the foot bridge used to be. The bridge was washed out in 2010. The Ulu Shelter wasn't there when we went in 2012. It was on the other side of the Weasel.
