Thankfully since Frank has posted this video he’s left some amazing tutorials about how to add padding to sensitive parts of your cosplay and tips on how to use a clear form of masking tape to add to places prone to rubbing and scraping. It’s not a final solution to every problem but it helps.

I am from the older generation but I am inspired to build something like this because of these videos you produce. Knowing that I have this type of guidance at my fingertips, I can't wait to see what I can create. Keep up the amazing work (but don't burn yourself out, you are no good to anyone if you do!!"). Scratches buff out. The automotive clear coat is a thick layer of protection the is really impressive when it comes to unintentional bumping. Don't knock it till you've tried it.
@FranklyBuilt2 жыл бұрын
I have tried it, multiple times on various projects. Yes it DOES hold up much much better but it doesn’t make it indestructible; that’s the point. Eventually you’ll STILL need to touch it up. There’s no way around that. So you need to factor in the cost of that paint and re-doing it vs a cheaper paint and how frequently you’ll need to fix it. All that or: roll with the damage. No paint in perfect or un-scratch able. It just isn’t. There’s way to help protect it but unless you clear wrap your entire suit; it’s going to happen.

Frank you should try using plastidip spray paint on your prints its alot better...imo
@FranklyBuilt2 жыл бұрын
Plasti dip would be such a downgrade compared to the paints and colors I’ve been able to achieve. I used to plasti dip entire cars and what not, it’s good for foam and stuff but has no real practicality in achieving high gloss deep metallic finishes. Maybe using the clear gloss dip might work to help protect some paint but even then, I’d still be constantly re-applying it

I would like to know, what 3D printer is the best to start with???
@raimiallpowerful20202 жыл бұрын
honestly. the little marks just put your suit over the top. it makes it look like metal. hot toys used to not do any exra paint and it looks like plastic. metallic paint won't make plastic look metal it looks like plastic with metallic paint. it gives the suit depth and honestly, it would take guts to "ruin" the paint job but in the cosplay community most make things look as literally disgusting and worn as possible. cosplay chris makes everything look rusty and dirty like it's been in the desert lol. but yeah little nicks or with an airbrush like a pitting affect, or somehow getting that brushed look metal has makes any prop better

Looks great! Either way, and the battle damage just makes it all the more realistic, detailed. My idea behind using filaments to the same color id be painting in is the wear areas, yea the primer will show before the filament but if left along it will go through the primer too and then show the filament color and if its the same color or like the paint your fine lol... Tho i doubt there is gold or red primers ive only seen white,black and the flat red filler type but this idea would work great with starboost if printed in white and using white primer or black and black primer.. ;) your too far along for that tho Frank you've finished starboost.
