He's not just singing...he's breathing life into the song. It's not lyrics he's singing, he's telling a story in song. That was always the way with Sinatra.

@Rabbit Gaming: As an aside -- when I heard the song “Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps” in the movie “CRUELLA” I thought the singer sounded exactly like Doris Day. So I looked on KZbin to see if Doris Day recorded that song and she did. -- but they didn’t use Doris Day’s version, they used somebody that sounds exactly like her. So my point is -- there’s got to be somebody out there that sounds like Sinatra. -- maybe -- somewhere. It would be interesting if there was.

Are you kidding me?! Seriously, are you kidding me? Everyone else take a damn seat and watch how it's done. Simply the most dynamic performer in the history of popular music!!! And there are too many reasons why to list them here. But here's one. That's a 70 piece orchestra with Nelson Riddle behind him and all you do is watch him. If you want to be great in any endeavor you have to know that you're great. And damn - did he know it!!!!

This Arrangement by Nelson Riddle is got to be the greatest, at 2:42 the lead trumpet, Conrad Gozzo takes it to the stratosphere, I write big band charts, and did a great tour with the HRT Jazz orchestra of Croatia, their lead trumpet was right up there with this guy. Frank is killin it on this one, so glad I got to see him in San Francisco, in his prime.

If it's what you live to do, it becomes like second nature. You might get nervous about being up to it right before a gig, but for a guy like Sinatra the stage was his home. His instincts would have kicked into gear the moment he got up there. Most of us don't ever learn that ability, as it only comes from years of experience.

Frank Sinatra is one of those things only a few lucky people got to witness first hand. The man dripped with swagger, was an absolute gentleman. He also suffered from major depressive disorder, and possibly bipolar disorder despite that he hung around with anyone no one was above him. He stood up for minorities sometimes getting arrested, and he happened to be extremely vocal about treating EVERYONE with respect and dignity. He hung out with some of the greatest talents of the time, hung out with everything from steel workers to politicians and did it all with ease. He may have had his demons and downfalls but my god what a voice not to mention his phenomenal stage presence. He also had an air of approachability that celebrities rarely have. I think anyone was welcome to have a drink with him. He was gifted with this incredible talent and didn't let it get to his head and he carried out anything he did with class and style, every man wants to be 'old blue eyes' but there was only one and there will only be one.

What an arrangement. Sooo many subtleties from the violins to the harp, the organ and piano... and that's not mentioning all the brass that's simply just kickin' ass. Nelson Riddle's music was as made for Frank Sinatra's voice as vice versa. What an incredible combination. I'm thankful my dad introduced me to all of the standards. There will never be another era like it.

C'est vrai. Frank était bourré de talents, tout le monde l'adorait, de la femme bonne ménagère délaissée par son mari, jusqu'à la dernière russe (qui ne l'était pas) qui avait pu voyager pour le voir. But... His band says much more about America at this time... It is absolutely awesome ! The orchestra is absolutly perfert... May be too perfect to be recorded within 60ies. But who cares provided joy is there. Sorry gents for my poor english...

So so true . The time keeping is so difficult because Sinatra sung with feel - which involved singing across the bar lines and to a certain extent actually ignoring the timing of the song completely. All to the good because he dominates every song.
