Personal favorite Ferraris... I can't really stop at 3. For this instance, I'll stick to pre-'80s era non-racers. - 365 GTS4 "Daytona". Particularly the Spyder captured a coastal vibe that no other car for over a decade could really approach. - 246 Dino... My god that car. Both for what it was, and the basis behind it's name. Love everything about it. - 410 Superamerica... No specific explanation for this one. It just always grabs my attention.

I'd love to see Peugeot and Alfa Romeo in this series. Both have classic cars from the 20's and 30's, magnificent coupés from the 60's, lots of futuristic and disruptive concept cars, beautiful sedans, mad sports cars from the 80's... More elegant in the case of Peugeot, more passionate in the case of Alfa. Also it'd be cool to talk about Seat in this series, a brand I'm sure you are close to given your time spent here in Spain, which has some quite curious models.

I didn't appreciate the 250 gt lusso until I saw a few of those scenes you showed us. Only in those few scenes you can really see how the car feels visually. And it's so powerful and confident but still elegant. And the Dino should return as a brand not only as a model. Small engine combined with an electric power train, although I would prefer a combustion engine. 6 cylinders, beautiful Design and a little more accessible than a Ferrari.

250 Tour De France (in light blue) - I love the early 'vintage' feel of this true classic, a very innocent, pure design. 246 Dino - I hate it when people say its not a Ferrari, no one but Ferrari could have made this car!! 365 Daytona - To me this set the tone for the big V12 GTs, almost as if it was an elegant European take on the US Muscle car. Honourable mention - F355, being the Ferrari of when I was a kid, had all the modern trademarks of a Ferrari with 4 round rear lights, pop-ups up front and a big scoop on the side. A super simple design with great proportions xD

The 250 GT Lusso is one of my top 10 favorite cars of all time. I have a minor bone to pick with the design, and it lies with the c-pillar. The painted portion exposed between the two strips of chrome trim needs to be about 2cm wider. It feels like the trim pieces are getting just a bit too cozy together. My other two fave Ferraris? The 166 MM Barchetta and the F-40.

I agree with what you say about the Lusso's C-pillar. To me it´s uncomfortably thin, but also the curvature of the chrome strip from the side glass doesn't match the one from the rear glass. Finally, I've never seen a Lusso in the metal, but in most pictures I can find, the front seems too low, almost as if the front suspension is sagging.

@@matsuri626 - good observations! I have seen the car in the flesh on a trip to Germany a couple years ago, and it was there that the C-pillar trim really hit me. A lot of cars need to be viewed in person for a fair evaluation. I never noticed the trim until standing in front of one. Now I'm going to have to observe that saggy front end!

Great vid! Loved this one. The dino is crazily, stupidly gorgeous. One of those designs like the E-Type that transcends the automotive world to be a piece of rolling sculpture in its own right imo. For me, being a child of the 80's there would be a 512TR in there. Ideally blasting down a multi lane palm tree lined highway..... I also love a Daytona, and 308, and one that I don't understand because it kinda looks a bit weirdly proportioned and detailed from a pure design point of view, but I really really really love the 550 Maranello. Somehow it's imperfections make it painfully gorgeous. Perhaps my favorite Ferrari.

My favorite 3 Ferraris? Number 3 is the 308 (made famous by Tom Selleck in the TV show Magnum P.I.). Number 2 is the Testarossa. And number 1 is the 360 Modena.

Growing up when the F430 was in production was cool. Most scale model cars I had were the F430 and watching Top Gear, James May owned one! Also driving it on Gran Turismo was amazing! Even though the 360 preceding it was similar in shape the F430 had more refined curves, the headlight design and especially the rearend with that grill really made it stand out perfectly as both a aggressive beautiful car! Thank you Mr. Stephenson for bringing such a rad looking car to those who grew up in that era. Other than the F430, the F40 for screaming performance with its full carbon body and twin turbo V8. When you first look at one its easy to tell it was never designed to be a road car but a race car. The Testarossa since its very iconic as a retro 80s car in media and popculture, the fins around the side intakes make it a very recognizable car of its time.

For me it was influences as I grew up that form my opinions. I still remember as an elementary school student checking out a book on Ferrari's and falling in love with the 246 Dino. Then there was me watching re-runs of Magnum PI, so of course the 308 GTS. And finally as I was coming of age to drive, the 348 GTS. I know everyone hates on the 348, but it holds a special place for me.

Absolutely love watching your series of 3 Greatest Design. I will make sure I would not miss an upload. Agree with your opinions. These cars were designed over 50 years ago, they stood the test of time. They still look awesome. That is what a good design be like. Toyota and Lexus is going the opposite way of good design. A lot of crease, fold, edge, holes, fake ducts, wings and on-your-face chrome. Many may absolutely like it, but it can get outdated fast.

Two of my favorites are the 308 GTB (also Giorgetto Giugiaro's favourite, apparently) and the 365 BB. Fioravanti got it so right with those two cars, the perfect blend of curves and wedge shapes. The other car in my top 3 list is Paolo Martín's 1967 Dino Competizione.

I honestly think the Ferrari 360 is one of the most perfectly complete Ferrari designs. Classic, elegant, flowing, wonderfully accentuated wideness like molten lava approaching you, not too fiddly or complex, friendly at the front yet angry at the rear; shaped like a missile in flight, cutting through the air. A design that essentially changed the mid-engined formula ever since. Oh, and in my opinion one of the most wonderful and memorable wheel designs in car design history, too. I still remember the first time I saw one. It was a "I have to have one" moment. Immediate obsession. A rosso 360 is beautiful, but a giallo example.. Mesmerising.

355 = slant nose perfected I own three: Hot Wheels 1:64, Hot Wheels 1:24, and the Barbie radio control model that only goes forward or reverses clockwise. I love to go to Ferrari owner meets and troll them. "Do you have that problem where the mirrors fall off your F355? It happens to me all the time with my Barbie RC model. Life is so hard for us rich people." The matching Barbie in Ferrari racing overalls with red hair is worth more than the car; there are some Barbie collectors with strange urges.

I didn't know that you were the designer behind F430. Ever since I played Forza Motorsport 4 I was entranced by its beauty. This car is the sole reason I have started my driving license and saving money, so I could enjoy it someday. Thank you very much. My other favourite Ferrari are 308, because Magnum P.I. While it is similar to 365 GT4 BB, I think it slightly more angular. It has more triangles. I personally prefer the more "brutish" or strong look between the too. And Testarossa. It feels like it was built as a direct competitor to Lamborghini Countach, which screams POWER, except it retained more of Ferrari's signature elegance. Also, it still looks like some car from the cyberpunk version of the future.

Thanks for the video, it’s great to hear designers talk about of people’s designs. My choice matches yours for 2 out of three… 1. 365 GT4BB. This isn’t just my favourite Ferrari but my favourite car altogether. I have a personal ‘Golden Age’ for car design which spans from ’65 to ’75 and for me the Boxer perfectly sums up the transition between the curvy shapes of the 60’s and the sharper edged wedges of the 70’s. You have the rounded fuselage body like an E-Type and an airy glass house with slim pillars combined with a shark nose, pop-up lights and cab-forward cabin. It doesn’t have a bad angle, looks especially good from directly overhead. 2. 250 GT Lusso. Everything you said and more. It really is achingly pretty from the delicate little cup-hands overriders below the side lights to the abruptly cut off tail, everything is in perfect proportion. There’s a quote from someone years ago when describing cars that goes something like this “The design is finished not when there’s nothing more you can add but when there’s nothing more you can take away” and I think that sums up the 250 GTL perfectly. 3. 288 GTO. Take the already pretty 308 GTB and make it more… well more of everything. Stretch the track and the wheelbase, add extra louvres (lots) and some tribute 250 GTO slots behind the rear arches and it creates a really taut, flab-free design. If the 308 is a ballerina then the 288 is boxer, gloves up ready to give you a right cross. Looking forward to the next vid.

Picking just three is hard. I love your choices but from the other possibles I'd pick 275GTB (adding a little compact agression to the delicate Lusso), F430 (beautifully Dino-like but with some welcome tension after the slightly soft-edged 360) and now Roma (for its return to clean surfaces).

Love the Dino. I have always loved the design. There are so many gorgeous Ferraris and this little car is the prime example of Ferrari beauty. It is in my top 5 list of most beautiful cars ever.
