About the problem of them running out quickly and being uneven I think it's because of the paper you use (also try circular motion when coloring an area instead of strokes). Or that you didn't correctly put the caps back and it dried up (their caps could be pretty hard sometimes to put back on you should heard a big "click". ) I have mostly ciaos and some sketch ans I do big A4 illustrations and I layer a lot (I can use up to 6 colours to colors the skin and and blend them with each other all the time) and they didn't run out of ink that fast. I've been using markers for 5/6 years and Have approximately 40 out of 160 markers that run out of ink. And having refills is a savior when you're in the middle of an illustration and a marker run out of ink. Like my most favourite skin color that I use all the time I would probably had to buy a new marker at least 5 or 6 times. And I personally think that the watercolor effect is a big inconvenient for me (If I want a watercolor effect I just use my watercolors... ). What I want with my markers is a clean marker-like end result. I think overall the Copics are more professional despite they ink being a little bit below quality wise (they are refillable, you can replace nibs , they have the largest colors selection available, and they have an airbrush system ). But I totally understand that it depends on preferences and what you will do with them. If you use them only for doodles from time to time or if you only do flat colorings or use limited amount of colors per illustrations, promarkers and brushmarker are probably good for you. But if your coloring style is more complex or if you plan on using markers for years and years to come : Copics markers are the best way to go.
@HannahEnglandCreates8 жыл бұрын
I know this is older and someone may have already said this, but I know that the lifespan of markers can depend on the kind of paper you're using. If you have a more absorbent paper that might suck out more of the ink and cause your Copics (or other markers) to not last as long or blend as well. Using them on marker paper (smooth and ridiculously thin) might make the last longer? I don't use my markers often enough to know the difference but that might be something to keep an eye out for.
@ChaosOrZen7 жыл бұрын
This. I have Prismacolor markers that are 2 years old and copics that are a year old. I use them regularly. when I first started I was using absorbent paper and went through several markers really quickly. After switching to paper made specifically for markers I've had to refill or repurchase very few.

Great video! I have never tried Promarkers. But, I have been using Copics for over 5 years and have almost all of my original markers - they never dry out! And the ones that I use up I refill! (Both Ciaos and Sketch markers are refillable!) I have a few refillables on my favorite colors, but my local shop also refills them for a very small price... Also, Copics aren't meant to color evenly, that is because they are mostly used for shading and blending - even if you just use one color, you still need to go over your coloring until it looks like it's all colored in evenly - makes it easier to add in shading and what you want to look lighter/darker. I hope that makes sense! I really do hope to see your marker update video in a month or two :)

Taking your own sketchbook to an art store to test out markers is a great idea! Here in Korea, art stores have long skinny strips of paper in front of pen/marker displays for testing colors, but it's cheap printer paper and usually filled up with stupid comments doodled on by kids ("Jinho is da best" or "Hyun and Mina forever" etc). Haha anyways thanks for the tip, Fran!

It would be amazing to try W&N markers in pastel colours! I know jealousy is a bad thing but I'm jealous right now that you can work with them D: Also...I think Copic should create 365 colours and then give you the whole palette so you could do the year challenge using each colour every day of the year. How cool would this project be?? PS. I hope you don't have to copy your drawings on the window any more and you got little light box ^^

@chrysanthemum37978 жыл бұрын
About the blending of the Copic marker turning out pretty bad is probably because of the paper or you didn't use a colourless blender or use the base colour to blend the colours together. About the ink problem, it may also have to do with the paper. If the paper's too thick then it most likely would suck the life out of your Copics. And about the results about it being uneven is most likely that colouring with markers way too fast to the point that you missed some parts? Try colouring in a circular motion.

¡Holaaaa!

Great to see an honest review. And cool to see that you are getting some support from an art company. I feel Windsor and Newton are really proactive about their social media marketing. I've never tried promarkers, but I would love to. I've used copic markers, and found that the paper is absolutely crucial to getting the effect that you want, although purples and some reds are always hard to blend. I've also found working in small sections wet into wet helps, as well as laying down colourless blender first. Maybe you are having some issues due to your paper choice? But I LOVE the watercolour effects you have achieved using the promarkers on your paper. It makes me really excited to try them.
