Thank you for another great podcast Aine. Glad you are recovering well from your covid, I agree rest is a wonderful remedy, your body certainly guides you if you listen to it. I love your version of the Billie sweater and look forward to seeing that, the yarn is beautiful. I also enjoy your talk of Celtic history and particularly the healing properties of plants. Hurrah on reaching 2K subscribers in such a short time.

Hi Áine, so refreshing to watch a podcast that doesn't feature the same patterns as almost every other knitting podcast. Your segment on the local wildflowers and plants reminded me that I used to be very interested in that. Moving to the middle-east and apartment living has made me forget that. You are so privileged to live so close to nature and be able to really enjoy the outdoors. lol I had some blackberries in the fridge when you showed yours and i just had to go get them lol. They came all the way to Qatar from South Africa, my home country.

Colette thank you so much for your lovely comments - I really do feel very lucky to be living where I do and to be able to enjoy the outdoors every day. I'm also happy that you like the patterns I feature - I hope you are inspired to knit some of them! Happy knitting:)

It's lovely to hear you share your herbal and historical knowledge. Your knits are gorgeous. The Nordiska has been on my make list for ages. It might be time to cast it on.

I have just found your podcasts and I'm working my way through them. I am enjoying them very much. Your knits are beautiful, they are giving me encouragement to try colour work. I also love walking in nature and discovering plants, their names and what herbal properties they have. I have just bought Niall Mac Coitir's book. It's so beautifully written and informative. I come from the north of Ireland originally and now live in Scotland. I would think that a lot of the plants he mentions can be found in Scotland too though some may be particular to Ireland. Thank you so much for your podcasts, I am looking forward to the next one ❤

Hi Jackie, thanks for your interest in podcast! I'm sure most of the plants in MacCoitir's book are found in Scotland and there are loads of references to Scottish plant folklore and customs. It's a beautiful book isn't it - so well researched and bursting with really interesting information. I hope you do try colourwork - it is so satisfying and rewarding...and you have plenty of yarn and a great tradition of colourwork being so near to Shetland....Thanks again for your lovely comments and happy knitting:)

Another great podcast! Here for the knitting , of course, but I love hearing about the nature and Celtic language and traditions.

Thanks Judy for the lovely comment and thanks for watching. I hope I'm not straying away from the knitting too much but I love researching and sharing the information about Irish culture and language that has always fascinated me. We weren't taught any of the pagan stuff at school for obvious reasons but that's all changing now so there is a real sense of revival out there and a re-learning of our deep connection to our past culture and by extension to nature. It has so much to teach us about how we can inhabit the earth, appreciate its abundance and live in harmony with nature.

Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 😊. Very inspiring episode....I will need to knit the Widow's Kiss!

Hi Sandra - lovely to hear from you all the way from Canada.....and thank you for your lovely comment. The widow's kiss is beautiful isn't it. I knit a cardigan of Thea Coleman's for my niece two years ago - the peated whisky, in Soft Donegal in a beautiful deep green colour. It was the first cabled garment I ever knit and I couldn't believe how straight forward it was. I'm really looking forward to using a rustic wool for the widow's kiss although I think I will do a swatch of the cable element of the pattern before I finally decide on which yarn I use as I'm not sure if the sport weight ullcentrum will give me nice definition in the cables. Let me know what yarn you decide to do yours in. Chat soon, Áine

Thanks Mandy!! I'm really pleased with both sweaters - I'll wear the Turntable for the next podcast - I love the fit but the weather needs to be a bit colder to wear it. And yes we love Godot - he is so sensitive to us leaving to go away on holidays. His sister Tiger Lilly usually disappears and doesn't turn up for anything between 24 to 48 hours after we return. Godot is always waiting for us in the bushes and runs to greet us as soon as we get back. They are both adorable:)

Lovely, lovely podcast! Glad to now you are now OK, I love your walk in the country, really envy the sight of countryside (as I grow older I feel that life near nature is much more attractive than life in the city). Keep up the good work; I really enjoy learning about Celtic traditions while making progress on my wip ! Hugs from Greece!

Thanks again so much for your lovely comments. Delighted my ramblings - both physical and mental - are a good accompaniment to your knitting. I love walking in the countryside and am lucky to have direct access to it from my front door where I live. And Irish folk traditions really fascinate me - we are taught so much political history in school as children which means very little to us and is so hard to connect with, unless you are interested in wars and fighting!! Folk history is so often disregarded by modern culture and yet I think it is where the true wisdom lies. It's so lovely to be discovering it now and lovely to be able to share it with the world. Hope the knitting is going well!

Thanks Jo-Anne for the lovely comments and for watching the podcast. I think I may have too many things on the go!! We'll see how I get on - there should be lots of knitting time coming up now with the evenings closing in here, there's a real sense of changing seasons here now and I'm looking forward to cosying up with all the cables and colourwork.

Lovely FO’s and looking forward to seeing all those WIPS and plans in transition. I have some ullcentrum linen but have yet to knit with it-we still have a bit of summer to go so I might still get something done. It doesn’t start getting cooler until November here in Northern California. Glad you’re feeling better.

Thank you for your lovely comments and for the well wishes. I'd love to see how Ullcentrum linen knits up - is it 100% linen?

Thanks Tina - that's a stretch of bog walk on the Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail in the height of summer with lots of gorgeous wildflowers blooming - its's a balm for the soul. And the music is a real find from epidemic sound - it's called Dreamers of the Shore by Cody Francis. It really struck a cord with me because I have always longed to live by the sea and my dream came true about 12 years ago. Thanks for watching the video!
