FRASER ISLAND FOR ONLY 20 HOURS?! SUZUKI JIMNY JB74 AND HILUX SR5

This video did definitely turn out very different form what I had envisioned a couple of weeks ago! 😅
We had an awesome trip heading North and made a quick stop at Maheno Wreck, before heading inland towards the west end. We’re about 500m inland when we hear a big “bang”, followed by another one and therefore decide to stop. We quickly realised it’s coming from the Hilux.
We walk around the car thinking it’s a stick that’s jammed itself under the car, but to our surprise noticed that it’s the bull bar that has been knocked down and off from where it’s originally supposed to sit! 🥴 It appears that the tyre got a grip on a small piece of metal from the inside of the bull bar, and literally pulled the whole thing down. The bull bar has gotten warped, and we then had to reverse the car back onto the beach again and set up camp in zone 6.
Luckily, got to borrow an angle grinder and cut off the worst part, but we then also realised that this trip will be going south in the morning to get an opinion on it at Rainbow beach.
The bull bar will most likely need to be replaced but luckily no one got injured in the process! Remember to always cut enough for your tyres to fit (if you’re fitting biiiig ones), that is our tip 😅
To top it off, we had a wet night at Fraser so it might not have been the worst idea to head home 🤔 #fraserisland #explorejimny #suzukijimny #kgari

Many years ago when we first decided to get into camping and 4x4ing, we bought a very cheep suzuki Vitara. We paid $2k for it from a wholesaler and it was very tired. We got so recovery gear, loaded up the esky, packed some towels and headed for bribie. Not 1km down the highway and the radiator exploded into a massive steam cloud whilst doing 100kmph down the highway. Trip over before it ever began. That car was forever dubbed "splodie" for its explosive tendencies. Loved that car, even though it was a piece of shit lol.

hi there. might be silly question but was it easy driving around with Jimny? have you had a problem getting bogged? we are going on september and i was thinking of renting jimny for a day but i worry that we will have problem driving. :(

Nah it's so light you'll actually stuggle to get bogged, haha! It's less powerful than other cars but in return it's light, so you'll be surprised how capable it is 🤗 Enjoy your trip!

I have never known of a “properly fitted” bull bar doing that. If your friends had it fitted by a “so called” professional outfit, they should be seeking compensation. And yes, always carry some basic tools including a crowbar.

It was professionally fitted however the plate on the side under the bull bar caught on to the side plate underneath and pulled it down. I've seen it happen before, and reason for it happening this time was because the Hilux went from 32 to 33" tyres and if extremely flexed, it would catch onto it - which we noticed after of course. It's been fixed now and luckily another dude just checked his car a week after this video was made and removed that plate too, otherwise he would probably end up the same going off-road. Not common, but worth checking! :-)
