@@gogreen7794 Yes, but they wrote him as a slob. Remember him slinging his underwear in his office as he's posturing on the phone? I never bought Daphne's falling in love with him. I think he was a character designed to make Niles seem more desirable .

No, but I remember chopper Dave inexplicably having more than two seconds of screen time. Or any screen time at all. I would bet my boots test audiences unanimously voted him as the worst character, even for the 90s, and the show runners axed him hard by season 2.

I like Donnie so much more when he was a confident, aggressive, deceptively intelligent lawyer. When he got with Daphne he essentially became a corny, petty beta male. All that "honeyyyy" talk was just...eh. I really have no idea where that chemistry came from, and that was a horrible match.

He was right most of the time. That rant when he took the boys to this working class restaurant and they mocked it was epic. The way he closed it off by bringing up their mother who had high class tastes but also like a beer was a perfect finish. One of Martin's finest rants about their pretentiousness and looking down on the common man. Martin and Daphne's blue collar background was needed to keep the show grounded.
