The stereotypes I grew up hearing were these Deltas- Down to Earth- Nataural Hair Outspoken Loud trend to dark skin AKA’s - pretty but a little bit stuck up and mostly lightly skin Zeta’s - A little bit of a tomboy crew a little bit rugged Sigma Gamma Rho - were not really spoken about a lot - similar to how folks talk about Iota. Alpha- husband material but boring-solid dudes. Omega “Q” Dogs- Just wild as hell - just wild maybe might not graduate but if they do- will be hell of a business man Sigma - Kind of round the way “slight roughneck’qualities . The interesting thing is and you all spoke about this in the video stereotypes are really chapter and regional based. Stereotypes tend to Chang depending on the region. Anyway loved y’all chemistry it was the best.

This was a good video. I agreed with everything for the most part except for the Phi Beta Sigma stereotypes. In the DMV area , Sigmas are quite popular and social with the masses. Baltimore and DC have two of the biggest chapters in the country. I did hear that sigmas south aren’t as popular down south(Which is strange because they seem to have a huge presence at AGP) but if you travel up north to The DMV , PA, Jersey, and New York, Sigma aren’t considered outcasts trying to fit in. Iotas are almost non existent in the south, but I hear that they are well known in Jersey . So it is true that it really depends on the region.

I notice one big difference when they talk about prospects with their Sorors....the AKA sister and her Sorors will often say "they have the look" and blah blah......the Delta sister and her Sorors will focus on reputation, gpa/career accomplishments & community service. I have literally NEVER heard my Delta sister say anything about "looks". Love both orgs but I just notice the differences based on the members I know. No judgment just observations.....

Being a pretty girl is very important to AKAs. Take a look at their Headquarters IG page and it’s all over their posts. This is neither good or bad but just facts. Delta is a completely different organization and that’s why they are two separate organizations. Delta business, professionalism, and public service is a big focus for Delta which is why lots of Delta’s tend to be advocates.

This is why pledging…real pledging is so important. It maintains the history of our people and passes it along to future generations so we can tell our own story. If we are the gatekeepers of anything, it is the ancient knowledge of Africa. I’m sorry no one here could answer your question (it’s not a secret) so I will tell you enough to qualify as a satisfactory response. The Greeks were educated in Kemet so the alphabet that they claim as their own is African. BGLO members are supposed to know this: we call ourselves Greek for two reasons. First…to throw shade at traditional European HIStory and the American educational system as it relates to who is credited for the origins of civilization. Second, if we called ourselves African Letter Organizations, you wouldn’t know what the hell we were talking about. We are very clear on who our ancestors were and the importance of knowledge of self. We are by no means worshipping, honoring, respecting, or confused about European history. The AKAs and Deltas are pretty much the same, since the Deltas came from the AKAs, they try to be so different. Deltas use to call themselves pretty girls inc. Now the AKAs are doing it. Deltas and Zetas are sometimes similar.

Barbara Hall Appreciate you coming through and sharing your opinion! This video is exactly what the title states. Therefore, there is no research necessary, strictly personal experiences. When necessary, we most certainly recite the history behind NPHC, but this was just not one of those topics nor one of those videos... Also, be careful trying to diminish undergraduate greekdom as if graduating makes one any more of a “qualified” Greek or makes you more “qualified” to speak on Greek topics (we have several years beyond undergrad at that). Everything on our channel is coming from a genuine and authentic place and it will continue that way regardless of the topic or the audience. We are Kenya and Kendrick before we are Greek.
