I have a tonne of wealthy cousins. Then again, it's old money, so different. I think the real story here is that of the consequences of bankrolling a child who never ever learns the value of hard work, personal honesty, or taking responsibility for one's actions. I never knew this. I grew up in NY during the 80's, and remember Trump was practically NYC royalty back then. He was good looking, charismatic, and his outward persona never gave the impression of the typical spoiled rich kid partying away daddy's money. The early Reagan era really put money and socialites on a pedestal, and Trump was on one of he highest. He was sold to us (NYers, at least) as someone to be admired for his self-made millionaire status, to strive to become as close to that as possible. The ultra rich back then were presented to us as benevolent leaders. I truly wonder how much of the latter played a role in getting him elected.
