That would be great for Clarence Thomas. He didn’t claim the income from Harlan Crow on his taxes. And SCOTUS just ruled that when a government official receives $$ after the act, it’s not bribe, it’s just a tip. So they want to double dip; accept bribes and not pay taxes on it. 🎉🎉

As a retired teacher, I definitely do not make enough to have to pay taxes on it. Pure s*** pittance of a pension, and I worked hard my entire life for what little I have. Please, please, please don't take away Social Security 🙏 They already keep raising the age on it. I feel like I'll die before I reach the point when I can claim it

Make sure they are in a happy, safe environment and able to learn as much as they possibly can, not only academically but socially and emotionally, and be great citizens? Your comments are not hurting me. I'm proud that I was a teacher for all my years. I could have done many other things but chose that as my vocation. If you are a rich person who will have lots, in the end, that is wonderful for you! That is not the case for everyone. And, I'll bet you had one or two good teachers along the way to guide you and make sure you could get to where you are now 🤔 Perhaps not. Btw, neither you nor I know whether Social Security will be around in a few years. And, if you're depending on what Donald Trump says...he constantly flip-flops. One minute, he says he's considering cutting Social Security and Medicare. The next minute, he says, maybe we'll keep them around. The next time the subject comes up, he says that he's going to lower tax on Social Security. He says what he thinks his audience wants to hear, at the time. Who knows what he'll actually do if he gets into office?

Left out that’s Kamala has also said she’s for no tips for taxes. In her case this would translate to taxing the lower/middle class less and the 1% more. What we really need is a livable minimum wage because physical labor causes permanent wear and tear and people need to be able to afford retirement, and then we need a higher corporate tax rate. Or at least restore it to what it was.

Because as a Nurse, Covid forced me into retirement, and the opportunity to receive my unemployment compensation a little longer while Biden was in office, allowed me to get back on my feet, find an apartment, and get my life back. Same. I'm a Chef, started a new job the day our governor closed the restaurants. The enhanced unemployment the dems pushed thru were a Godsend, able to make my mortgage payments. Opened a new place just after Biden won, blew our profits the first year on high end disposable plates and cutlery but things kept getting better. Biden accomplished so much those first two years and we never had the recession everybody predicted we would and he still doesn't get credit. Love the man, a true public servant thru and thru.

Not tax on tips means service workers would be kicked off social security. It would be similar to how farm workers and domestics were excluded social security when it was first created in 1937. Every employer would lower wages and tell his workers to get the rest from tips. Every time you would turn around their would be a palm held out to be greased. They are already asking for tips for automatic check out machines.

Is that why he had the best economy in history while he was President? Everyone trying to argue with me must have a really bad memory, or they've been brainwashed by the MSM. Trump inherented a stagnant economy and was able to turn it into the most prosperous economy in our history. He brought jobs back to the US (Obama said it was impossible), every person was making more money, goods were affordable, inflation was at 1.4%, and the stock market had a 100% increase under his presidency. Thanks to Biden and Kamala, the stock market is only up 14% and is on the verge of a crash. Inflation is up 20%. Unemployment is up. There are fewer Americans working now than there was before the pandemic. Everything has become unaffordable and our country is entering a recession. You would have to be a 🐑 to believe otherwise.

Because many tipped employees actually prefer the current model. If my husband and I go out to supper at even a modest restaurant such as Olive Garden or Outback Steakhouse… two entrees, perhaps a drink from the bar and a shared appetizer can quickly add up to $50-$60 dollars or more. Because we like to keep our tip arithmetic simple, we generally tip about 20%… give or take. Rounding up or down to the nearest whole dollar depending on quality of service and such. Unless the kitchen is sorely understaffed, it’s common to spend about an hour, often less at the table. A 20% tip on a $60 dinner is $12. Less than the often suggested new minimum wage of $15, but $12 + $2.13 = $14.13 Yes, still not $15 or more… But wait 😉 Ours is not that server’s only table that hour. That server might easily have 4-6 tables that same hour. No, not every customer will tip at 20%, but not every table will be limited to two guests either. But let’s go with the idea that each table has only two guests and each table only tips $10. 4 tables × $10 per table is $40 for the hour. Well, $42.13 😉 Yes, these days the majority of tips paid by customers is done via the credit card transaction, but cash tips are still happening. And while strictly speaking *all* tips are supposed to be reported/claimed, it’s a safe bet that some of those cash tips are going unclaimed. Obviously, not every shift is going to have an average income of $40/hr. Several variables will apply. Grandma’s diner where the average order is pie and coffee? Those customers might tip well over 20%, but even 50% on an $8 tab is only $4. Some nights are busy, others are slow… some restaurants have expensive menus, others are very basic and affordable. The reality is that a good server can quite often make more per hour in tips than what most suggested fixed wage rates would be. And it’s that opportunity to earn more that keeps the really good servers coming back to work.

I'm 70 and I've been hearing there will be no more social security for 50 years. Do you really think they will ever end it and leave 70 million seniors homeless. That would be political suicide for whichever party ends it. They will never hold office again. Stop listening to the propaganda the news tells you and try giving it some thought for yourself. Learn to do math. There's a 150 million people working on average at any given time. All they need to do is take a few dollars more on Social Security tax out of everyone's check every week. That's the cost of a bag of chips. Let's say $3 and x that by 150 million. That's 450 million a week. Then x that by 52 weeks. Wow. That adds up doesn't it. So you see. There are solutions. As a former waitress, office worker, and independent contractor with various jobs while in college, I always paid my taxes because I knew they paid SS to my grandparents and supported the government that served my community - even when I had to pay double FICA as an independent contractor. When I became disabled around age 40, SSA was there for me and my young son. It wasn't a lot, but it helped us eat and stay in our home until he was 18 and that's not nothing. What they should do, is lower the rate on FICA but raised the cutoff limit. $250,000 isn't what it used to be after all. So much waste ... yeah remember when he got rid of so many Inspectors General (whose main job is oversight that prevents waste and corruption) and when didn't fill vacancies i the FEC (Federal Elections Commission) you know the people who make sure elections are done legally and fairly - only they need a quorum to meet and there weren't enough members of the board to make a quorum? Destruction is the point.

That’s not true. He’s going to stop giving money to people who are milking the system and get them to work. The money is there to keep seniors from paying the tax, it’s just that Biden and Harris are giving it to other people who don’t deserve it

In Canada, our seniors get an amount based on what they contribute while working. Low-income seniors get an guaranteed income supplement (GIS)

As a former waitress, the taxes don't come out of your tips. The taxes come out of your wages. You have to report a certain percentage of your tips, but you still have to pay the taxes on them and a lot of states only give you $2.13 an hour as a tipped employee. Instead of tip culture, which puts the emphasis on paying a living wage on the customers, put the emphasis on paying a living wage on the businesses.

I heard at red robin they start you out at 30-40 an hour plus tips if you combined that job with like a law job you'd be making some serious money so you'd have to be prepared to pay for stuff some of these jobs are actually designed for women without kids because they want you to work a variety of different shifts and deal with a lot of different people all day it's very dangerous work so being a homemaker mommy type wouldn't work for a mother maybe a kindergarten teacher or a nurse that works in pediatric but not all of these jobs favor mothers and that bothers the dads because they think there wives are so special they use them as trophies to prove there successful business men with a happy family that's the delusion conservatives live in bashing liberals and walling people in at the boarder that's why there party is not successful anymore they need to have a talk about removing trump from the race too so he doesn't get embarrassed and lose to a girl. Maybe a female president should go against another female candidate so men don't become emasculated by women for losing.

A very young lady at a fast food restaurant I visit, beautiful lady, came up to me, tears in her eyes, and said, she said, Sir, these people are taking away all my tips. I said, how would you feel, pretty young lady, how would you feel if you didn't have a job. When you vote for me, this gorgeous fast food restaurant, with beautiful slides and statues with red noses, is going to be, it's going to be 100% automated. Young lady, she's so young and beautiful isn't she. They didn't make them like this when I was her age. Young lady, you won't have to worry about tips any longer. And I couldn't believe it. I learned this all from talking to this one person. It was incredible.

My mom was a career waitress from @1945-1985. This was before employers were required to acknowledge tips, so she of course “fudged” her tax returns. When she retired due to terminal cancer, she was not eligible for Social Security, only SSI. She died impoverished.
