I've had that OxO paper towel holder for about 5 years now, and it still works great. The base is heavy with a rubber bottom so it doesn't move, and the arm spring hasn't lost any noticeable tension. @rebeccahetrick65762 жыл бұрын
Your original paper towel holder is actually better than the one that you are reviewing, you just need to flip the paper towel roll over for it to work correctly. That swirly part that ends with a little ball that sits a couple inches up from the bottom of the paper towel roll is actually there to help you rip a sheet off with just one hand. If you have the paper towels facing the correct way and you rip it from the bottom up, you can use your original paper towel holder one-handed. And also, the quality of paper towel plays a huge role in using these. If you're using brawny or Viva towels, they're going to work much better because those towels are stronger and have better perforations so they rip off easier and they tend to not get that triangle on the bottom like yours did.

You need to pull up from the bottom on the old paper towel holder, using the arm to help get the tear started whenever it give you trouble. The arm holds it steady enough that a small twist gets it started. The butter spreader leaves a rounded shape on the outside *with the second cut onwards.* The first cut still has a flat edge on the surface that contacts the corn.

I'm generally against single use gadgets figuring a common knife or something like that can do the job as well. But the PB peanut butter spreader seems to do something only a spatula would do. your spiral holder can do one handed, but it depends upon the direction the roll is mounted. (like the over-the-front vs down-the-back debate for toilet paper) look at the veggie bag dispensers at the grocery store. they have a rounded spike intended to break the dotted line between bags. the end of your spiral arm can serve the same purpose, but only if the towels are feeding the right direction.

This particular type has an extremely heavy base with a rubber bottom that will NOT walk across my counter, a lip on the base that keeps the towels from unraveling and, best of all, a ratcheting center that allow me to easily get any size towel with one hand. I don't have to violently rip the towel to get it off....I can go super slow, and I get a perfect tear every time. You really need to try one James...remember 1. Kamenstein 2. Super HEAVY base and 3. Ratchet. Not all Kamenstein's are created equal. Oh and one more thing...the very top unscrews for when you are putting on a new roll - Makes it super secure! And it's only around $20. Love your videos! I need one of those peanut butter knives lol.

I bought a marble paper towel holder at a garage sale 20 years ago and it lets me tear one sheet at a time forever. I use a spoon for peanut butter - works great. I stopped putting butter on my sweet corn 40 years ago and golly can you ever taste the sweet without the butter, so no need for a specialty knife. Cans? Nope. Great video for odd inventions so you can see what not to spend money on. Smile!

Alton Brown of “Good Eats” would say No to that uni-tasker corn knife!

The puppers in the back... "I think you should toss that PB jar down here, I can get into the corners as well."

One of the best scenes in the movie Wargames is when the father butters a piece of bread then puts it around an ear of corn to butter it. Ingenious.

You should get the wall-mounted SimpleHuman paper towel holder - the spring-loaded sides give the roll the perfect amount of tension, and you can totally pull single sheets off one-handed.

Mom and I have this plastic butter holder, it has curved edges and is specifically for corn on the cob (we bought this about 20 years ago, I believe)... it's essentially the same as that spreader but you put the whole (cold or room temp) stick of butter in the device and spread it that way. Kind of like that option though instead of using up a whole stick and making it crazy-shaped, if that makes sense.

Hey. Your other paper towel holder is made for one handed use. You use the metal ball on the side to press through the perforation. Then boom. That’s how I use mine

For years, I’ve had a Tupperware device for spreading butter and sprinkling salt on corn-on-the-cob. Works great.

I never thought i would get a kick out of a guy yanking paper towels off of a holder for 2 minutes straight 🤣

I've got that same old paper towel holder. I always thought that ball section was where you were supposed to pull/tear against.

I know I'm late, but the pupper in the background when you are messing with the nut butters, AWWW

My mom has had this thing for years that fits like a whole stick of butter and you just rub it right on the corn. Just now occurring to me that it isn't something most people would have as I have never seen it anywhere else
