The thing to remind people is that stainless steel soaps are odor eaters and NOT for getting rid of bacteria. They work by transferring the smell of the metal to your body. Rubbing your hands on any stainless steel thing, even your metal sink will do the same thing. Just don't replace your regular soap with it.

I used to have one of those staple-less stapler. I think I might still have it, but hell if I know where it is. It's one of those things that you inevitably lose sight of in the middle of moving. In any case, I absolutely loved it. Yeah, obviously it has its limits, but for the kind of use I gave it (mainly creating small "notebooks" out of discarded documents so I could use for temporary notes) it was perfect. Mine was way smaller than that one, though.

I'm late, and I haven't finished the video, but I wanted to point out that metal straws are actually quite dangerous. I think I remember a story of a woman tripping and the straw allegedly went right through her head, killing her. The KZbinr "I Did A Thing" tested it out on a plank of wood and the wood stood no chance. So be careful with them if you own them.

The idea is that some forms of organic sulfer tries to attach to the metal. So, I doubt gasoline would work but who knows? I had to do some research after I saw it working for him... sort of. I was top curious as to why it worked and I have no clue how much of that working was just abrasion and water flowing since he didn't try just rubbing his hands under running water. What I found was it seems to work for some and not at all for others and why its only some people is not known, requiring a proper scientific test.

I just learned, about a month ago, from my sista in law, that rubbing your hands on stainless steel took the garlic smell off. We eat tons of garlic in this house and I hate the residual smell. So, I called her bluff and after cutting garlic, I rubbed my hands on the stainless steel sink....on the sink y'all! The smell was gone instantly. My head exploded that day. As long as you wash the sink before you start rubing yourself all over it, you don't need to buy a $7 bar of metal....OR rub your hands on the metal straws 😂

I have had a stainless steel soap for decades. I don't even remember where I bought it. What the packaging had as an explanation is that when water, air(oxygen) and stainless steel mix an ionic reaction is created that neutralizes odors. It works on seafood, onion, garlic, and other odors that linger.

Fun fact: The metallic smell contains zero metal... It's actually a byproduct of the skin's secretions reacting in contact with it. It is thought that in nature, it is used as a signal to both predator and prey downwind of a bloodshed event, for their respective responses to it. This is because the iron in blood's hemoglobin is available enough to react to skin contact like solid iron does.

That staple-free stapler reminds me of something I had, in college, back in the 90's. I found it in the clearance section of Rite Aid or CVS. It was great. It was said to bind up to 4 sheets. But, I remember being able to bind up to 5 or 6 pages. It didn't make a giant hole, like the one reviewed. It just punched out a little hole and tucked that piece inside of a slip. It was just something I kept in my backpack that turned out to be a super useful $1 purchase.
