The carpet they use in the ads, are most likely made of polypropylene fibers, which is an extruded plastic fiber. It is non-absorbant, and generally doesn't fade. This is what most exterior carpets and grass carpets are made of. The backing also is made of plastic or other non-absorbant, and mildew resistant materials. You might try the carpet test again with that type carpet.

Great video. I bought a set years ago and tried the carpet test. We had extra carpet lying around so I cut a small square and I was surprised as were others when I showed them, that it did pick up the water from underneath on the counter I tested on. Seems like some like the product and others don’t but hey, it lived up to my tests back then and it appears to still live up in more recent times!

As always, a great review!! I've looked at and tried them. They appear to be very large pieces of Felt. I've seen them sold under different brand names as "Camp Towels" at places like REI and such. I never saw or heard of this product, but it seems like it is meant to replace the traditional chamois cloth. The chamois was wonderful at cleaning glass and hi-gloss finishes (like cars) without streaking. I have to wonder how the Shamwow would perform such tasks. And what does it cost?

I own and use the Shamwow to drip dry clothes. I put the large Shamwow towel on top of my washer or dryer and lay out my wet shirt or sweater on it to dry. Then I stack another Shamwow and shirt on top. The next morning, if I had to stack items, I may need to hang a shirt to finish drying or put a new dry Shamwow underneath. Works great and I don't have to try to find storage space for a drying rack.

We have 2 dogs in the house with urinary issues, one with doggie alzheimer's, who forgets where she is when she has to go, and one that is incontinent during deep sleep. So basically, we keep a couple of these just for dog messes because they do a pretty good job on the carpet, and on hard floors, and since they get washed a lot more than normal people would wash them and hold up pretty well, they keep things about as dried up as we can get them. Now if I only owned some stock in the Nature's Miracle company.....

I think they want it to be damp because water will easily spread out when it's wet. You can see that the dry shamwow had big wet stains while the damp one didn't have it much at all. Having it damp would help when absorbing more liquid because the liquid divides throughout the entire thing

I wonder if the bigger one would work for wet dogs? I have a Bailey type and a big lab who get soaked in the rain, and a smaller, hairier yapper. Towels just don't really work to dry them off and we are heading into the rainy season. I can live with the muddy floor, but drier dogs would be nice. I think I have to get some and try them. Would the blue ones be a good paper towel replacement?

I cannot speak to the shamwow, but I use a microfiber beach towel for our dogs after bath or generally getting wet. They absorb more moisture than a regular bath towel and do tend to do a better job of drying the fur in a few passes.
