Fantastic! This is this mysterious song dedicated to Gail that no one ever heard. If i remember correctly, some band member said it sounds completely unlike Frank. I disagree, sounds very much like him to me

I love the audio quality; how it has this kind of clouded fuzziness to it

The only sincere love song he ever wrote. RIP, Gail. So it goes.

This version is by the Band From Utopia not the Ed Palermo Big Band. Actually I performed this song with Ed back in 2001 but this is not the recording.

You have brought me solitude, And I believe it is the time for me to show some gratitude. I think I'll take a minute to reflect upon your attitude, But most of all I love the way that you have brought me solitude. You have been a friend to me, And I believe it is the time for me to show some sympathy. I watch the way you suffer with the problems only I can see, But most of all I love the way that you have been a friend to me. You have been misunderstood, And I believe it is the time for you to feel the way you should. I'd love to see you smile a while and know that you was feeling good, But mostly I regret the way that you have been misunderstood. You have been a friend to me, And I believe it is the time for me to show some sympathy. I watch the way you suffer with the problems only I can see, But most of all I love the way that you have been a friend to me. You have brought me solitude, you have brought me solitude . . . Insert the word "marijuana" for "you," and it's accurate for me. Other than that, I've only been bamboozled by love.

Btw yes, I think that the title should be changed from "Ed Palermo" to "band from Utopia" (not sure if they were already "banned" by this time)

Now that you mention it... The rhythmic structure of it definitely became Cocaine Decisions.

I'm still puzzled by the words. Once's first reaction is that he's misusing the word "solitude" - what he means is "SOLACE". Or does he? He became more retiring in later life - more psychologically dependent on the "solitude" of his home studio, and Gail played a crucial role in - to paraphrase Michael Gray - "shielding him from both the outside world and the emotional life inside the Zappa home"

maybe he means that she left him alone to do his own thing, in 'solitude'... and time for 'him to show him some 'sympathy' for being that way

Yeah, well that's what I was implying in that last sub-sentence. (Sorry for the typing errors - youtube being what it is, I can't go back and amend them, "you get free bonus mistakes!")

for me, it's easy to imagine 'solitude' in a positive way, evoking things such as quiet, stillness, and relaxation; those aspects seem distinct from those given by definitions of 'solace'. for me, this song's tone well-establishes that 'solitude' is a positive thing in this context (especially as opposed to 'loneliness'). I think there are so many ways of imagining what good thing he might've meant by 'solitude'. I can imagine sharing solitude with someone else - not someone else who's gonna be talking and running around while I'm enjoying quiet and stillness, but someone on my wavelength at that moment. maybe 'solitude' relates to the one or more of the dynamics of their relationship (family, business, sexual), perhaps one of deep understanding and care, and of the relaxation and lack of stress that can arise as a result.
