Knocks them ole' stacks down, Then throws pints back. A hard livin earned by stepping on one rung at a time that will never be rivaled by another. And life well lived that shall be recognized and appreciated by all. Thank you sir for giving us what you was able to and I apologize that the same was not done back to you.

I met Fred only once when I was 15 years old when he attended the Netley Marsh Steam & Craft Show in the New Forest back in 2001, though it was in 1999 when I first saw him on television with his series "Industrial Age". Since then, I have built a wonderful collection of his documentaries on DVD, and many books. During my last spell of voluntary guard training at the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway in July 2017 (last summer), I met his son, Jack Dibnah and had a little chat with him. By the way, this is a great music video and a catchy song.

I met Shelia Fred's wife at the Great Dorset steam fair some years back and as it was not long after some vandels had taken parts off Betsy Fred's steam Roller I asked her what hadhappened to Betsy and Shelia said that Betsy was being retubed at the moment.
