I’m really glad McGriff is in the HOF. His 493 homers match another great Lou Gehrig. I remember him retiring, before he could hit 500. He would have definitely made it, if he was signed in 2005.

it's an outrage that he's not in the HOF. He was very quiet, modest, a non-juicer. He was a huge contributor on great Braves teams that won a WS. There are zero reasons for him not to be in the HOF. Plenty of players in the 450-499 HR range are in the HOF if they had overall strong careers.

McGriff was the perfect example of providing the missing piece for a championship team. The Braves had good hitters but not that one big-time threat that pitchers were afraid of pitching to - and who affected how pitchers pitched to the other guys around him. Without him, the Braves are the 1990s Buffalo Bills with no championships.
