Fred Olsen Borealis Cruise Ship in Iceland (4K)

See the Fred Olsen Borealis cruise ship docked and later sailing away from Isafjordur, Iceland. The MS Borealis was formerly the Holland America Rotterdam- we were on her sister ship, the HAL Amsterdam (for a nostalgic look see our ship tour video: • Holland America Amster... ). The Amsterdam is is now the Fred Olsen MS Bolette.
We were aboard the Norwegian Star which was too large to dock at Ísafjörður so was anchored. We got a look at the Borealis' bow as our cruise ship lifeboat tender sailed past it while it was still docked. The Borealis later left before our ship and sailed right past us- so we got some good looks at the ship & her lifeboats. The captain of the Borealis even blasted the horn as well.
This was from our late June 2022 Iceland cruise on the NCL Star.

You sail with LifeBoat nr 5.. is that back to ship before it sail?... also.. do you rember what number you sailed with when yo sailed BACK to shore after lunch? :D

We actually took the lifeboat as tender in 4 different ports, so probably took many of them. In Lerwick it was #18 to, and #12 back, not sure about the other ones. But yes you're right that was lifeboat #5 in Isafjordur!

Yup- Fred Olsen bought the HAL Amsterdam and turned it into the MS Bolette, and the HAL Rotterdam is now this ship, the Fred Olsen MS Borealis.

I saw the sign at 0:15 Last tender for passenger “8pm” and crew “4pm” huh? Well then I have a whole day to get on them…. So the crew doesn’t just sail to dock with no passengers 🥲

It's actually 5 PM for the guests. Some crew members can visit from the ship too if they can get some time off, and 4 PM is the last tender they need to take to get back. But yeah a lot of time to spend at Isafjordur!

That's right- crew members are supposed to take the the tender no later than 4PM for this port. Usually they have to be back on the ship 30 minutes or one hour before the guests must be back.
