Part of the reason to get a top fuel engine torn down so fast is to get parts to cool down

As someone that’s crewed on Top Fuel, no one is more concerned about the safety of the cars than the team, self tech is fine as everyone on the team knows how serious a Top Fuel run is and it’s not playing around

But what about performance stuff?
@bigcncguy10 ай бұрын
@@BogettiStudios your always racing the track, even within the rules the engines make way more power than we know how to get down, we never had the most boost put in the engine. So nearly every innovation is for reliability. It’s not like x275 or a strict class where you can just put an extra 300hp in and go way faster, fuel cars are always trying to manage power and keep the engine alive But that’s just my experience, I was only in Australia.

Not a drag racer, but the “street car” discussion is always interesting to me. Love the fast cars at the drag and drives and it’s cool. However I don’t consider it a street car if you have to spend hours switching it to race mode. The guys at the top of the drag and drive heap are finding ways to make race cars reliable enough to limp a drive, not making street cars fast. I’m fine with it and watch a lot of the drag and drive content, but let’s not act like these are street cars.

@assaultlick216910 ай бұрын
@chadpreece7761 At no point in anyone's conversation of what's a street car do either of those get brought up. No one is trying to street drive them. My post is simply laughing at drivers suffering severe azz pain about what a street car is, only to find out its what ever is faster than them is not a street car. Also, no. You're not getting an f1 car to do street driving. Feel free to watch some videos on the 100,000+ man hours and insane modifications and compromises AMG did on their AMG one to make a heavily altered badtardization of a formula motor barely work in a street legal car that takes 20 minutes to start. I live for pinecone answers, so what do *you* think makes a street car?

Blame the promoters for the oil downs. They are clearly not checking the cars in tech and it takes seconds. A diaper or a belly pan is not going to save every catastrophic explosion but you can clearly see many of the cars at the events have neither. Both should be mandatory. The promoters are shooting themselves in the foot. Certain classes are just trash because of it. FWD Import trash at IvD @ MIR and the bug class @ sick week. Just drop those classes. They're not a draw and everyone else, spectators and teams.. hell the whole sport, suffer because of them

The street car thing, they are so dumb about it, you can make anything last 1 week of driving, doesn't make it a street car. Could make an F1 car do that, doesn't make it a street car. Could make a NASCAR do that, doesn't make it a street car. Le mans cars, and other endurance race cars do that much driving all the time. And they do it a full tilt the whole time, still not a street car. Getting a pro mod to go a week of driving and racing does not turn it into a street car. Quite simply, if it cannot pass a government safety inspection it is not street legal, and therefore not a street car.
@BogettiStudios10 ай бұрын
Florida doesn't have government inspections. No government should do that if you ask me
