Loved Freddie when I was 5yr old kid in the 60s and went to see him at Romeo and Juliets nightclub in Liverpool when I was 16,I kept asking him to sing you were made for me and when he did he jumped off stage and made a beeline for me,dropped to one knee and held my hand and sang it to me ,I was embarrassed but soooo happy too! He sat and chatted to my friend Carol and I about life and family etc during a break and was so charming,such a precious memory of a lovely,lovely guy RIP Freddie xx

I was (and still am) a massive fan of Freddie and the Dreamers in the year 2021. (I was 6 years old in 1964). My dear Mum bought me all the 7" singles for Birthdays and Christmases etc. I used to mimic Freddies movements and try to sing the words to my family, Aunties and to anyone else who was kind enough to watch a silly little sod like me! The group were so energetic, good humoured and great fun to watch. Also thier songs were very catchy and so easy to sing along to. I LOVED THEM. Apparently I was a massive fan too or at least I was very good at copying whoever taught me that little kick dance because I used to do it all the time. I was two years old in 1964 So it was a while before I could appreciate music but apparently I heard enough of it that I sought it out as I grew older, having two older brothers - the oldest being guitarist.

3 top 5 hits in the uk in 1963 proving them to be a major hit making band during the mersey beat era. This was followed by a couple more top 20 hits in 64 and another top 5 in 1965. They were a big selling group for a while, not quite up there with the Searchers and Gerry and the pacemakers but like them, towards the end of 1965 the hits dried up. Certainly in the top 5 for hit making groups in the uk mersey beat Era. Unfortunately due to thier silly dancing and live tv show performances they often get ignored. And some of the lesser popular groups of the time get mentioned, that's the problem with the music journalists, they rarely check facts and often just regurgitate half truths or lies when publishing. I remember reading a book on British music of the 20th century many years ago, written by an English Author, musical expert, where Freddie and the Dreamers were mentioned briefly as a " Novelty act 1 hit wonder, who faded away as quickly as they arrived" These kind of quotes are then published again and again until they become known as a 1 hit wonder. Which Is stupid seeing as 4 of thier releases made the top 5 uk singles charts

That's Derek Quinn - a very, very underrated guitarist - note how he's off camera for a minute or so after the first song then appears with an acoustic. I think he may have busted his electric guitar at that point and they had to replace it with something/anything!

I was born in 1964, they're before my time, but I enjoy Freddie and the Dreamers greatly. I think they're not only unique but awesome. I totally emby you, for you were one of the luckiest kids in this world-----you had quite a few singels by this great band. I wish I had at least one. I couldn't even dance like Freddie for as much as I tried, couldn't coordinate my movements as he did.
