Goin' Down is like a locomotive going 120 mph crashing through every building in Texas and letting all the debris slam into the rest of the United States causing a natural disaster.

So true. I could say at 230 bpm, the exact tempo of the heart of a man who fight with himself before getting into too much trouble, as i imagine it could be on those dark days of slavery and segregation the blues often talk about. Going down has the weight of an inheritance and I feel the trance ...right under our eyes and ears, even if the lyrics says another thing, this is what i feel. however, talking about Chattanooga let think to a train, right.

I remember Freddy playing this Boogie on the show " In Concert". The song was so long that the TV station went to a Commercial Break, and when they returned to the show, this song was Still Playing! Boogie On Children, to the Legend Freddy King. :)

This is as real as it gets folks. No amount of gear or number of players can ever replicate what Freddie and crew could do on any given night.

Freddy King was one of the first concerts I ever saw. It was at the Ash Grove in LA and I was 13. It was incredible... we also gave one of his sidemen Hollywood Fats a ride to the gig cause he was too young to drive and my older brother had his license. so we got good seats. The Ash Grove was a really cool venue, wooden benches and tables and you could roll a joint and light up which was a big deal in those days.

When I saw Freddie at Winterland I was expecting some average journeyman blues. Instead I got blown away by one of the most slammin blues sets I've ever seen, as this video proves.

Freddie played with metal finger and thumb picks, which I think added to his tone - if you listen to Boogie Funk at 3.08 where it's just him playing you can hear them clicking against the strings each time he picks a note, almost like a high pitched slide note!

Denis Kostic I posted in the Drummerworld forum a year ago, asking for any info on Charlie Robinson and so far, no one has responded, with the exception of one forum member who turned me on to this video. I can’t imagine that a drummer that good would just give up playing and disappear into obscurity. If he’s alive, I guess he’d be around 70-ish, provided he was in his late 20s at the time this video was shot.
