Heavenly voices .. “Where is my star in Heaven’s bough” 🌠☀️ Montserrat Caballe passed away in 2018. 😢 Freddie’s birthday was September 5th, he would’ve been 78 yrs old. 👨🏻✨

Guide Me Home is one of my favourites on the album too. I think Freddie uses his most natural voice in this. To me the lyrics sound like he is aware of his destiny and wants 'to come home' peacefully.

How can I go on I think is a song Freddie might have started writing as a Queen song & when the Barcelona project started I think he used it for this album. He was hoping to just meet her & doing the Barcelona song was perfect for him, a dream come true then Montserrat asked how many songs for an album & suddenly Freddie had his work cut out to find & write more songs for her.

This was the first ever collaboration between a rock singer and musician and an opera singer. It was considered a risk to both of their careers by some, including Pavarotti, who changed his mind later and did a duet with Brian May on hs son Too Much Love Will Kill You. When Freddie's manager Jim Beach presented the idea for this album to the music label, they were so shocked they paid him a lot to get out of the deal, they were so sure it would be a flop. As you could see in the interview you reacted to, they were both enthusiastic and looking forward to working together. The album was a moderate success, especially Barcelona, considering its unusual nature.

How Can I Go On is my favorite along with La Japonaise and Guide Me Home!

I favor these two songs the most and Ensueno and Barcelona but overall the entire album is an enjoyable listen--it was just meant to be a mashup of the two artists and their very different realms. And I like the demo Exercises in Free Love. This was Freddie's first stab at this type of music composition--would have been interesting to see where he might have gone from here.

In 1997 Montserrat Caballe released album with duets. She's singing Bohemian Rhapsody with Bruce Dickinson, one track with Vangelis and two with Gino Vannelli ( Rose in December is very good IMO)

The Barcelona album is the mature musician's creation. It was his adventure to the theatrical and more classical fields, and we know, that the word "barrier" was not a part of Freddie's vocabulary. 😊

Maybe "the move" for both of them was what it was all about - expand the boundaries for each musically.

But she wanted to do different things. She said it gave her for the first time the freedom that she didn’t have with opera to try new things. No actually it could’ve been a problem for her career because at that time this was taking a huge risk.

I get what you're saying, but I disagree. Not every album has to be a concept album,, or follow a particular genre. Besides, it's a wonderful song, and they both sing it beautifully.

I have to agree with you. The ones you like I like and kinda for the same reasons. The others don't work with her voice.

I love this album and I have to disagree with you but "How Can I go on" is one of my favourites but each to thier own. I think the idea was to do a bit of each genre mixed more one way than the other.

People can't grasp that Freddie is a Baritone because of the register he Sings in with Queen and his ridiculous range.

Concept albums are mostly boring. The songs don't have to be all part of the same thing.

Guide Me Home is nice background music. How can I go on should have been a Freddie single. Montserrat just sounds out of place.

This should have been a Freddie song. She doesn’t need to be on this. Freddie sounds right at home here…✌🏼
