This isn’t the earliest days of Michael’s career. He had been singing and dancing for several years already. Those boys were pros and performed like a well oiled machine. In many ways, the Jackson Five and the Osmonds paralleled each other. Their styles were different but they were five brothers from large families. Donny Osmond said later that they sometimes stayed in the same hotels on tours and they would play football in the hallways. (They had to hunker down inside; they would’ve been mobbed by adoring fans if they left the hotel).

The last song they did was a hit for them. They were together as a professional group for about 12 years. When they left Motown, Jermaine ( on Bass ) stayed with the label mainly because he was married to the daughter of the owner of Motown. Then the youngest brother ( Randy ) replaced Jermaine. They stayed together for a few more years until Michael went solo. The rest of the group member's went solo for a short time period, but were not very successful. Over the years while Michael was a solo act, he would still perform with his brother's on tour from time to time. All of the sister's ( Rebbie, LaToya and Janet ) had solo careers with Janet being the most successful. Michael was the youngest at 10 years old in this video.

They were so professional and mega talented. I'm sure I had a couple of their 45s. 😊

Isnt it a shame that this amazing talented kid, ended up destroyed by the media and now he is no longer with us. Saw him live twice and no one has ever beaten him. Saw his brothers live too but only one Michael. RIP ❤❤❤

Have loved Michael and the Jacksons since I was 9. Weird now to hear him singing these ‘love songs’ when he was only a 10 year old 😉

The other brother who helped with some of the lead vocals was Jermaine,he was actually the first one to leave the group because he married Berry Gordy's daughter and as a show of loyalty he stayed behind when the rest of the group wanted to leave Motown. He went on to have a good solo career. When Jermaine left the group their youngest brother Randy joined the group and they were called The Jacksons from that point on. They also have 2 sisters besides Janet.

I liked, "Ben." ABC! I remember dancing on my friend's porch to the 45's. Awesome memories!

The Jackson 5 was the first concert that I ever saw. It was 1973 and I was 8 years old. I was fascinated to say the least. Of course I'd heard their records and seem them on TV but this was something else. Yes, they were famous and great singers but they were kids too. They were kids that looked me. I knew all of their names. Michael, Marlon, Jermaine, Tito and Jackie.

Wow, talk about memory flashback...I can remember watching these variety shows back in the day. Growing up at this time the whole family would gather together in the living room to watch the Jackson 5 and many others perform on the many variety shows we had back then. Side note: their Christmas album from the 70's is one of my favorites.

Such a cultural difference. I'm around your age and I grew up on the Jackson 5. My Mom had a huge crush on Jackie when she was a teenager 😅

totally lip-synched dude.

@@JuandeFucaU Everybody sang with the orchestra or with a group. Performances were live there was no lip-synching on The Ed Sullivan Show; it was a class Prime Time show. Shows like Dick Clark's American Bandstand which were not primetime more often liked lip-syncing. Variety shows that were on Primetime had a choice, but the upscale ones had live performances. Ed Sullivan demanded that everyone do a run-through live and if their song was too long the orchestra or the individual musicians had to cut it. Beatles, Stones , Jackson Five, Mamas and Papas, Doors, Buffalo Springfield all performed live.

@@JuandeFucaU It was live. If you knew how the record sounds then you would know that this was live.

Not necessarily true that all singing was live. There was a famous incident when the Mamas and Papas were on the show and they were supposed to lipsync. Michelle Phillips was upset about that so she was eating a banana during the performance to show that they weren’t really singing.
@markfadness92046 ай бұрын
@@pjg58x Yep, Mama's & Papa's lip-synched on the Sullivan Show. One performance (on YT) has Mama Cass cheekily saying "Cue the tape" before the song began. Those harmonies & all the over-dubbing in the recordings hard to duplicate on stage.
