This is why I say aew and WWE need to get rid of guaranteed contracts! Fans attention spans are extremely short. These wrestlers are very complacent knowing they get this money weather we care or not. They would get the downside guarantee, but make them hungry to make that kind of money, when they care, the fans will too, and ratings would go back up. Tell Freddy, I'm ready to make wrestling massive again! I can help.

@@garyhen2028 I just want to point out here Gary if I guarantee contract for a professional wrestler he's guarantee contracts mean something that's why you see a lot of the old timers who worked in the territories have GoFundMe pages or even the Indie guys who got injured like Daniel Garcia had a fund me page one he got in a car accident because they didn't have guarantee contracts because they were Indie wrestlers or they worked in the territories before there was guaranteed contracts before Vince gave them guarantee contracts or Ted Turner gave them guarantee contracts it's like everyone else in the world sometimes lose our money and crappy ways the stock market casinos a bad investment we lose our house because we can't pay a mortgage divorce whatever a terrible illness this what happens to professional wrestlers too don't give me this short span of Span in this business don't look at it as a business person look as a fan remember being a fan please this disgust me what you just said about these men and women who are who I'm fans of I'm grateful for these wrestlers who perform for us who put their bodies on the line for us and if they get guarantee contracts they damn well deserve it they deserve creative control and they deserve health insurance they deserve a goddamn Union in my point of view and that's what all Elite wrestling was supposed to be anyways supposed to be a union then it turned into a professional wrestling company

@@jerryjanik480 your missing the fact that, they don't care weather we as fans like the product or not! And it's because that guaranteed money! All I'm saying is, it makes them hungry for that kind of money, Wich in turn, they care, now they are doing something we would care to watch, compare roman and Rollins rise to the top, to Steve Austin or taker, they wanted it way more back then, now its just pay me 5-6 million and I'll go through the motions. I get they paved the way for this era, but if it worked before to get those ratings, it damn sure would work again, these top guys would likely earn even more if it were run like that today

The only thing I'd like to add is the Internet is a free for all. There's a lot of leeway. Yes, people can be a bit nicer but there shouldn't be any real regulation. That would be stupid. Imagine if you were 27 and your parents punished you because you typed something stupid on KZbin. Cancel Culture is basically that.
@fcc950
@fcc950 Жыл бұрын
@@oggiekrstic7171 there's no such thing as cancel culture. all these people who get "cancelled" (their past actions called out) end up losing nothing but popularity, but continue to benefit immensely from their talent and also are able to continue making a living & remain in a position of power (i.e. the last us president). regulation does not equate to censorship and if you have an environment that freddie is describing here, where people are subject to emotional abuse, no matter who it's coming from, then parameters need to be put into place so that it doesn't continue.

"Chico and the Man": the Man was the grandfather/grandpa in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (with Gene WIlder); that was a cool film; the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) remake directed by Tim Burton (with Johnny Depp as Wonka) = I didn't see that one yet; there is a new rebooted version too called "Wonka" (2023) with Timothe Chamalet (as Wonka) and Hugh Grant as a Oompa-Loompa; Freddie Prinze Sr. was on The Tonight Show (with Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon). Freddie Jr. is quite spot on, the generational gap of different pro wrestling eras (2010's (Millennials) and now (Gen Z or Generation Alpha)). Freddie Prinze Jr. is trying to keep Kayfabe alive. I also get where Punk is coming from but blasting everyone on a press conference with the boss next to you for 30mn...there is literally no way to defend him. Not saying the Elite played no part in that but pretending that them thinking he and Khan had something to do with Cabana being out of TV, adding to that Hangman's weird promo that most didn't understand because of the lack of context, and him throwing a tantrum in public where he trashed the whole locker room for 30mn on their KZbin channel without any kind of nuances are somewhat comparable is strange. Don't forget he went at MJF also and had nothing to do with the Elite situation here...he treated Tony like a little child, talked about the company like it was his. The repercussions are insane, it's not even comparable. Only the likes of Jim Cornette thinks it was great stuff because he is biased when it comes to the Bucks and Omega. He can think they suck, sure but it's not the topic here. I would probably troll Punk in a match too if he insulted me publicly, told me to go to his locker room if I had a problem with him insulting me (duh), and attacked me before I could even say a word. Not hard to see where they are coming from also. I do understand Punk's frustration but at the end of the day, and unlike what his Twitter name is suggesting, he wasn't brought in as a wrestling coach here... So it's understandable he wouldn't be seen as one, even though he would have the pedigree/legitimacy to be one. Is it stupid from them not to listen to him? Maybe...does it allow him to trash everybody for 30mn? Hell no. As far as Cabana goes, he could have something to do with this without realizing. Maybe Tony made the call for Punk and kept Cabana apart, maybe it's just due to Khan thinking Cabana wasn't needed in the show...does it justify a long ass explanation where we learn Cabana has a bank account with his mother? No, who cares... That's the issue with Punk, he revealed more about how annoying he could potentially be in the back with that move alone. He went waaaaay too far.

heres the problem with your argument. u saying it like punk only have problem in AEW. remember he was fired twice by WWE, first they brought him back cause hes a draw, second time is cause they dont care about the draw anymore, they cannot stand him and refuse to work with him for 7 years. and before WWE, he got his ass beat by teddy hart in TNA for mouthing off. sure elite could have their problems to work out, but u cannot denied the guy who went thru 3 company and have MAJOR problems in all of them is the issue

I don't think it's just about disagreement with his co-workers like he said; the entire history of wrestling is made of wrestlers not seeing eye to eye backstage, but most of them behaved professionally when they're in front of the camera. Not Phil Brooks. He single-handed destroyed his own legacy thrice; there's no one to blame but himself. Don't act like he wasn't given ample chances, because if it were up to me, he would've been suspended after the squash for unprofessionally going into business for himself live on air. I wanted to root for him for so long, he was my hero, and he just completely let all of us down.

The fact that now a days these flippy, floppy, indie wrestlers decide they know it all and don't take advice or the time to listen to the old vets is super disrespectful. Eventually you have to smack them in the face and remind them that they have it easy cause we made it easy for them.

Exactly. You have a locker room that has Sting, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Mark Henry and William Regal. That’s generational icons, multimillionaires, Wrestlemania main eventers, multi-time world champions, Hall of Famers and guys who worked for years molding talent in NXT. They have a wealth of experience and knowledge. Imagine being as stupid as Hangman Page and thinking you don’t need advice from guys who have succeeded and helped others succeed because you were a (mediocre) world champion one time. 🤦‍♂️ That kind of ignorance is just staggering. Why wouldn’t you want to learn from master chefs how to cook, because you got a bunch of followers on KZbin watching you in the kitchen? That’s a joke. Successful people never stop learning or improving, and they’re always willing to listen to other ideas. That’s how you grow; growth means success.

Both sides have to take some accountability, the utter chaos that happened couldn't have been a one sided affair. Hearing Tony's mom was also going through health issues at this time makes this whole situation sad. If they were smart, they'd hash things out and figure out a way to work it into a storyline.
@JacksonOwex
@JacksonOwex Жыл бұрын
No, if they're smart they'll just send Mr. Brooks on his merry way! He's now had issues IN TWO WRESTLING PROMOTIONS and NONE of the individuals directly involved had ANYTHING to do with his issues before! That just MIGHT mean the issues don't lie with ALL of those other people he's blamed for his misfortunes but within himself, the ONLY common element in these situations! This also doesn't include the POSSIBLE MMA company that I feel like made comments about NOT wanting to work with him, possibly again, because of his behavior! But if this IS something that happened, then that's THREE COMPANIES, one of them NOT AT ALL related to the other two(at least beyond of the basic level of both being fighting)

I think it's unfair to say that Punk lost an edge mentally. To force wrestlers to do those weird press conferences after a major show is insane and there's clearly limited guidance from AEW/Khan on how to handle the media. You get some guys kayfabing all of it, some guys "breaking character" for all of it, and most of the guys doing this awkward mix of kayfabe and "reality". MJF was the only one who made it work by basically saying, "F all of you, I'm not doing this." Having a guy go out in front of hostile reporters who have been openly reporting exactly what the Bucks feed them while coming down from the physical and emotional intensity of performing in front of thousands of people, blood and sweat still on his face, AND a massive injury? Terrible management. On top of that, you have a situation where the Bucks et al were spreading their narrative through the press and Punk doubtlessly went to Khan to deal with the situation and Khan did squat about it. This was not the first time he brought these issues up in front of Khan, you can tell. Punk was in a hopeless situation at AEW and forced to give an interview at the worst possible time.
@Jeff_Pryce
@Jeff_Pryce Жыл бұрын
Tony had a lot of fault here. He already had to tell the press that the rumors about Punk getting Cabana fired were untrue. But that should have been a warning sign to Tony that he should have pulled the Elite and Punk in for a meeting before “All Out” and said “Knock it off, all of you. I fired Cabana. It was my call, and it was a business decision which I can do because this is my company. I pay the bills, I decide who stays and who goes. I don’t want to hear another word about it. Now get back to work, and the next time I get bothered with this crap, someone’s going to pay for it. Dearly.” But he didn’t. He let this simmer until it exploded and it made him look weak and incompetent. I doubt they would have pulled this if they had to answer to Triple H.

I am sure Punk did have allies in the back but what he didnt count on is he wasnt the only cool wrestler in the company like he was during his ascent in WWE. WWE was in a bad bad way on the top of the card when Punk got hot. Pointing it out is what made him hot. Shawn Michaels and Edge had retired, Undertaker and Triple H were part time, Brock Lesnar hadnt come back yet. WWE went with Miz, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio as top guys, Daniel Bryan was not fully invested in yet. Punk had that cool factor to him and he was rebellious. Fast forward to 2022 yes Punk was the bigger overall star but not by that much compared to The Elite. He could not handle that there were 3 wrestlers generally liked in the company more than him. All 3 way younger, better athletes and way more talented that provide a style of wrestling fast paced and designed to wow the crowd. Most of the talent accumulated in AEW got their shot from The Indies because of The Elite as well. What Punk failed at is he never understood you dont just become a leader by saying you are one or are going to be one. The locker room chooses you for that role. Punk has been clowned on for years and was never respected as a leader. His actions in and out of the ring made him a pretender.
