I don't know who saw Cottos last fight but he looked great. He looked crisper than he has in years. I thought Cotto was done years ago, and then he started to come on again over the past few years. But now with Freddy he looks great.

I was thinking that Canelo was going to beat him but after this Rodriguez fight I'm having serious doubts. yeah, styles make fights, i just think floyd nd cotto were made for eachother, cotto the smothering tough agressor vs floyd the defensive technician, floyd doesnt hit the hardest either which made cotto able to sustain the relentless attack on him, if he went in with that style against canelo i could c it just turning into a slugfest with canelo landing the heavier punches etc, i think cotto should come back to 147 and take his chances with the likes of maidana etc rather than alvarez

Just like Roach undertrained Manny Pacquiao for Marquez, Roach forced Alex Ariza out of the conditioning process and it was the only time Manny made an official legal weight of 147 pounds before a fight (WAS HEAVY AND UNCONDITIONED). Roach the anti Mexican and Jewish people, forced the catchweight clause on Cotto and Varcalcel. Cotto only trained 4 weeks for Delvin Rodriguez, Cotto defeated Delvin Rodriguez because Rodriguez is a C- boxer.

Ariza was with Pac when he lost to JMM and Bradley . Since then he's fought Rios, Bradley and Algieri.

Ariza's methods were probably best for a prime Pacquiao. Past-prime, a trainer needs to be able to cut reps and times so a fighter can peak at the right time. Ariza is probably one of those full throttle trainers.

Roach truly cares about his fighters and you can tell that he loves working with Cotto. His work ethic is better than Manny and Roach has no control over him as a trainer. Roach has special plans for him, they have an excellent camp especially now that Alex is gone that dry snitching bitch

But after Floyd Mayweather Jr. destroyed Henrey Bruseless, Cotto's #1 sparring partner at 140lbs, Miguel decided he wanted to parts of Floyd Jr after that and went on and fought others... There was no reason for the bout not to be made. But Mayweather instead signed for a pointless rematch with De La Hoya. Seemingly this wasn't the end of the world for the bout.
