My boss, Mike Barker from Lloyds Bank (he was a funny down to earth north eastern man) decided for our Xmas "do" to go to the Wakefield Variety Club and see Freddie Starr. We all got dressed up (as you did in those days for shows), and it was one of the best nights ever. Freddie Starr, (RIP) was undoubtedly one of the best talents of his day. He could dance, sing, and most of all a comedian. Never laugh so much!
