I reckon the coolest Japanese bike currently is the Kawasaki Z900RS. Modern sports-naked performance but with gorgeous retro proportions, colour schemes and styling, all wrapped up in a quality finish. I've loved how they look since release and I'd love to get my hands on one as a faster pace change to sit alongside my Bonnie in the garage. That said, if you're going up against the Bobbers I reckon you're testing the new Honda Rebel 1100, and I certainly hope that's the case because it promises to be a great bike that I want to see more on. Have to say, I know this trip back to the UK is only a short one but from following the insta I know your time on Tenerife overall is coming to the end in the not too distant future too and I for one will be very sad to see you leave. I've enjoyed living out my Tenerife dreams through you after not making it there myself and while I'll enjoy whatever content you make, wherever you go, and as much as it will be fun to see some new scenery, I'll miss the island for sure. I'd love to know how you're feeling about the return to the UK, even briefly, back to our crap weather, crap attitudes frankly, and the high theft rates of London (not that you'll be bringing the bike on this little stopover).

I'm rather sad you're coming home. I've really enjoyed your Tenerife diary and just watching the beautiful weather gives me a Ready Brek glow. 22 degrees with you, 7 in the UK as I write this (and blowing another hoolie). I think you've done a lot for Tenerife tourism, it's the obvious place for a Brit to escape the winter blues. Safe journey anyway. Tenerife has been a very interesting tour and you and Monika have definitely explored it well and given some great ideas for motorcyclists and anyone else coming out there for a holiday or extended stay. The trip to Gomera was amazing - not somewhere I had thought of as a holiday destination. Your final trip here was good with the trip to the Jardin and inevitable coffee stop. Too bad about the beach but the weather had turned a bit. Just like here - snow and hurricane force winds in Scotland ! Get yer thermals on to return to the UK, as I dont think it's much better in the London area. Who'd have thought it though in February. Look forward to your next adventures.

Hi @Freddie Dobbs , I enjoyed your movies/pictures from Tenerife. But sometimes you should have been better informed about the places you chatted about. Eg. in this video you looked down the street Calle Iriarte with some of the oldest and historic buildings of Pto. Cruz. On the right the Casa Iriarte and the kind of typical buildings out of the ~18.Cent. with the Museo Naval. On the left you saw... and the building with those nice green balconies was build in the 1980s (not really historic ;) ). 5:12 the buildings on the right also some very old buildings under a kind of monument protection. The building on 5:19 was the most luxury hotel in the 1970/80s. End, please, please, "Jardín" is pronounced [xar'din]. 🤪 Take care and joyful riding!🤙

japanese retro bikes you can probably still find in a showroom are Yamaha SR400, (so retro it only has a kickstart, sadly ceased production last year), Honda CB1100 EX, Kawasaki W800... at over 20 years old you can probably include Suzuki's SV650 in that mix but that kinda stretches the definition of 'retro'. it doesn't look THAT old is what I mean (modern classic, definitely, though.). so that's one bike from each of the big 4.

My parents moved to Tenerife in the early 1970s. The area you are in at the Botanical Gardens is La Oratava not Puerto I think you'll find and yes the North is lush. In the 1970s the south was not developed and the La Reina airport not built as Los Rodeos wasthe only airport often hampered by low cloud at it's altitude. You should visit the north when all the villages set out religious fabulous tableaus all done with flower petals. I reckon the bike you're going to be testing is the Honda CMX1100.....yes, i know they make a 500 version of it but hey Freddie......we've got standards and only the big bobber will do? Pillion carrying capacity looks a bit dodgy on it though, poor Monica! (Does it even come with that tiny mudguard mounted pillion seat as standard or is that an optional extra?) Looking forward to your review of it though but I don't reckon there will be too many surprises after all because it's a Honda = silky smooth engine probably totally lacking in character but as reliable as the sun coming up in the morning.
