@@santanamariedarjes7363 well that depends on teh genration thing ... i was born in 1979 .. tail end of GenX . what a lot of peopel miss is on teh end and start of a genration there is some cultural ideological mixing , early GenXers have some things in common with late Boomers, late Genxer's have some things incommon with early millenials. if you were born in 96-97 you're a GenZer by definition , but you'll share a lot of cultural traits and cultural habbits with Late millenials. and a lot of late genZers sahre similar with early Gen Alpha. now if you were born slap in the mid early 2000's then yeah , i could see you saying you were born in the wrong generation. of you were born in the mid 80's mid 70's ect ect.

Jackie Earl Haley wasn't the issue I had with the remake.....He was the strong point in the film....however, the issues I had with the remake was the execution of the film and the overall plot of the film...

So, the difference between this version and the original is that in this version Freddy is more inline with the original idea for the character, being a child predator rather than just a killer. In the original, he was simply made a child killer because of the rampant child sexual abuse incidents going on at the time.

The original Freddy Kruger was the best. Cheesey and campy? You bet! That's how it was supposed to be. Freddy was like a diabolical clown spitting one liners while on the hunt for fresh souls, and probably inspired by Pennywise from the Stephen King novel, "It."

This movie absolutely terrified me as a kid. I remember my mom and her ex put it on one day for us 3 to watch and we had to stop it once the classroom dream scene came on as I was terrified. I was able to watch the entire movie eventually and it is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. I just bought the movie on iTunes tonight to rewatch it now that I'm an adult to see if it's still as scary as I remember it being. I really don't get the hate this movie got. It's terrifying and it's pretty good. Jackie Earle Haley did an awesome job as Freddy. It's not my favourite movie by any means but it certainly isn't my least favourite either. I like the movie and if they made another Nightmare On Elm Street with Jackie Earle Haley playing Freddy, I'd watch it.

Oh yeah i see why people hate this one, Freddy looks nothing like the original and he does not have the same personality at all which i feel ruins it for anyone who has watched the first films cause they have totally changed the character . Hi Kamilla ! Actually, it's kind of a good thing you watched the remake before the original. People are so nostalgic of the original, they tend to spit on this remake. But with your fresh new eyes, you can see that it's a very good movies, and probably end up considering it as one of the best of the franchise... Plus, as the franchise goes down with movies #2, 5 and 6 (unpopular opinion, but I think #3 is also not as good as people say, and I prefer #4), you may have never wanted to give a shot to the remake. So I'd say it's an happy mistake. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm looking towards your reaction to the original.

I didn't dig the molester angle either. child murderer is bad enough, adding that to it in the way that they did made it so that I can't root for the bad guy at all. not all murderers are sexually deviant, some kill just to be cruel, that's acceptable for a movie bad guy. The teens are suppressing the deep trauma caused by Freddy that they don't know about. They fear Freddy subconsciously due to the trauma they experienced and he manifests as a literal monster in their dreams to torture and kill them, but they can't remember who he is until the parents reluctantly tell them.

I agree with you there. The OG wasn't even scary. The characters weren't all likeable. And it felt so unrealistic for the teens to look like they all had a good nights sleep, instead of looking overtired because they had tons of brutal nightmares. 30:10 ...."The way new generations will look at the movies"......I don't believe there's a thing called "the right way or order to watch a movie or saga"..... I mean, I began the Elm Street saga with the 6th entry, and yet that didn't reduce my interest in the saga itself (sure, you can eat some spoilers but, that doesn't undermine the quality of the movies).... With that been said, I have no love for this remake. It could work as a movie of it's own, but it's standing on giant shoulders, without adding nothing new to the formula. Sloppy camera working, cheap CGI and flat characters, and you have a recipe for "meh"; and when it comes to Freddy, I've got nothing against Jackie Earle Haley, but the guy simply isn't Robert Englund (Bobby was born to play Freddy, and you can tell).....

That's why you don't look at it with an open mind. It's the biggest problem with OG fans and Remakes. They always find something to hate, because it either is too close to the OG or it has not eniugh similaritites to the OG. I watched both the Reboot and the OG from 1984 (watched OG first) and the Rebott felt much more realistic and the characters were much more likeable than they were in the OG (except for Nancy and Tina) and Freddy is much more scary in the Reboot. RE did an excellent job and I like his Freddy too, but JEH Freddy's darker nature fits that character perfectly.

This version is crap, watch Wes Craven's 1984 original, with Heather Langenkamp, Robert England, and Johnny Depp. That, is a good film.
