Thank you for salvaging this, perhaps the definitive interpretation of this complex and beautiful piano sonata. The build-up of tension is so incredible, especially throughout the first movement, the climaxes so haunting, the modulation throughout so well-adjusted.

Already cried twice during the first movement while on the train...not sure whether I want to reach the funeral march and the finale. Amazing

In interpretation on the Marche funèbre, Zimerman takes it like Mussorgsky's Bydlo. And it makes so much sense. It's a funeral procession. It starts softly as the procession coming, and gradually increasing in volume as it approaching and then diminishing as the procession gets farther away. Genius!

Hermosisima sonata. El paso del segundo al tercer movimiento, me parece muy difícil de colocar. Una vez más Zimmermann tiene la maestría suficiente como para que haya una lógica entre ambos. Gracias!

op35-2 it's Rachmaninov-Aschkenazy , Rubinstein disappointing for once Zimerman it's Chopin-international competition ; op35-2 is the great piano sonata so tiny number of interpreters who understand what Chopin thought about death ; philosophical sonata op35-2 !
Well, not gonna lie. it's a well solid rendition. But this specific piece has so many challenging parts that only a handful of master pianists will truly grasp and convey this masterpiece. Gilels, or Rubenstein, come to mind. Some transitions sound a little too hammery for my taste. But all in all it was a good attempt nevertheless...
