Yeah it feels like early Portcullis is mandatory in duels unless you’re attacking with 4 laws or something super early like that Being behind the settling development curve is one thing but having no spymaster feels like the final nail for Frederick Although I guess I’ll see ;)

It's a great question -- the trade off between Portcullis, Sovereignty, Polis/Forestry, and Citizenship is a tough one! I'm personally still not sure which to go after when in games. Here I went for an early Portcullis because I wanted to draft off Frederik's high city science in his capital with an agent. It also gave me a ton of visibility.
