*Correction:* Burning Flames Team Captain is no longer the most valuable TF2 cosmetic, as of January that title goes to the Poison Shadows Double Spelled Antlers which are worth 30,000, turns out my sources were from 2018, 2020, and 2022 so that’s on me. However, the greater point still stands, as 30,000 doesn’t hold a candle to the (potentially) $1.5 million Karambit Also this is a sequel not a reupload, I’ve seen some people confused but the “2” in the title should be the signifier.

CS:GO actually only became F2P years after the community market was released. Also, TF2 trading was quite large even before the introduction of the community market, since the Mannconomy update was released in 2009 and as far as I can remember the Steam Community Market was released in 2012. Not to mention the fact that you could barely sell anything on the community market for a while, only certain items like Keys or Stranges

Not having modding support really means that once the devs stop giving content the game just die and also not having a server browser meaning that it is more difficult to find games over time because you can't just go on the server browser put the remove full servers,remove empty servers and then just pick the server you wanted no you need the matchmaking system to pick a game for you which means that even if there players trying to find a server they might not be put in any server because they levels and ping are different and not having a server browser also meanings that places can't buy their own private servers to host on their computer which means that if the company shutdown the online servers now you can't play the game because the devs do not allow you to buy and host your own private or public server on the server browser Overwatch 1 died exactly because of that the online servers all shutdown and players were not allow to host their own servers on their own computers

Wanted to point something out about TF2. The game had always had a free vs paid account system. The chat feature didnt come until the bots, but there are other features that f2p players never got. @@distritochristianangeloa.157 I think lowering the cost to 5 or 10 bucks will make these games thrive. Currently the average for spending players in most f2ps is 10 percent or lower and I do think it's because of the price. From personal experience, I have only spent money in 2 f2p games despite playing dozens of them over the years, and those games are roblox and epic conquest 2. I only spent 7 bucks on roblox as a kid, but I got a lot of milage out of it buying several paid roblox games, some cool skins and a few microtransactions and I can easily say all those years later, I got more bang for buck than most money I have spent on video games. Recently I bought a 5 dollar pass on epic conquest 2 and got a lot of value out of it and supported some of the only good mobile game developers left. If f2ps showed how they could give you as much bang for buck as paid games, I guarantee you people would be spending as much on f2ps as they do on paid games.

2014 was the prime of mobile games. Pure creativity, gameplay and absolutely free to play (with little microtransactions). Nowadays you can't even find good games on the app store because the games are way too much focused on making money rather than actually making good games. The only game I play on my phone is Shadow Fight 2 and the rest is just games that are actually good but you need to buy a "full version". Pretty annoying honestly but what can I do
@alexjustalexyt1144

That's cause the actual good games that would've been on the app store get released on something like the PC or consoles as an "indie game". There just isn't an audience for mobile games that much anymore. The audience is made up purely children and they take advantage of that which is why you have ads that are extremely misleading, these companies just keep cranking out absolute garbage that advertise each other.

I don't mind monetizing a free2play game like fortnight because the money comes from the player decision after all . But I think monetizing games like shadow fight 2 should be a hate crime/j . Because it forces the player to watch an ad every second and anything that is forced on you often makes you mad and because it doesn't make the players that spend money at a advantage. It makes the f2p player at a disadvantage from the get go.

Warframe has 99.99% transactions... that are merely cosmetic. You can still grind your way to power and glory even with no bucks on you. The Lotus RESPECTS your time on Earth. Even still, with a built-in market and high-end dealers like Baro KiTeer and consistent "free crap" events rolling weekly, it truly promises that "Ninjas Play Free".

There are ways to play suprisingly good games without paying too much. For example, various minecraft servers like Wynncraft, Medigo Abyss, Monumenta, and Runic Realms can all be compleated so long as you have a minecraft account.

Although many games on the Roblox platform have elements of scummy P2W, you can still find great well-made games created with passion and the player in mind, which I respect.

It is understandable to add micro transactions for things that do not affect gameplay like skins, but the problem is when there is a paywall to continue and get better at game

A Warframe player here, Just wanna say that it probably has one of the best F2P systems I've seen, more of a pay for convenience really especially since the very premium currency platinum is very much earned through playing and trading with other players, the game will take a lot of time it is an MMO after all but if one enjoys the gameplay as a goddamn space ninja and especially if You have friends to play with you'll find yourself nearing the end game before You know it

I get that a purely 'free' game can be better than a f2p game. But I still think that f2p game are both good for the players and the devs.(as long as the devs is not as money hungry as EA) Players who like the game can play with or without paying, the game will be more popular and the devs will be more motivated to maintain and make new content for the game. It is a win-win situation for everyone. Or maybe I am just too optimistic.

companies are trying to squeeze every possible $ out of potential wallets. its not a win for everyone, its ALWAYS going to be a win for companies. steam allows you to play a game for 2 hours to experience a demo of it. there's multiple reviews of games that come out that can help you decide whether to buy a game or not. saying youve spent $300 because of cool looking skins rly isnt something to encourage. sure, paying for entertainment is obvious and the developers deserve their cut for developing a game. but microtransactions are often times ridiculous, and causes people to spend more then they really should as they've been manipulated as the montesiation system goes against their biology. they use tactics such as wanting to fit in/impress others/FOMO.
