UPDATE: In cold weather I am finding that it takes between 4 and 7 cylces (presses of the handwarmer button) PER cylinder to adequately prime the engine. Apparently each cycle does not put much fuel into the engine and I have not yet had any trouble with flooding the motor. And also this priming technique could come in handy for any engine cranking slow, for very cold starts, and also for rope starts where you want it to pop off on the first pull.

Cool! Hey yeah always have a can of spray start handy too for those "cold-cold" days though. I find this trick handy, but my sled has it's temp limits on it working. At some point ether is the only way mine will start.
@slode1693 Жыл бұрын
You can save a step by going to diagnostic mode 50, that is for the full system and primes all 2 or 3 injectors at the same time.
@brettlarson4327 Жыл бұрын
Cool! 👍👍 I missed that mode when looking through it.
@targabill Жыл бұрын
In the manual, #36 & #37 cycles the actual injector, #50 cycles a "Fuel Injection System Relay"... Does this accomplish the same by adding fuel into each intake manifold?? I believe the System Relay operates the Fuel Pump which cycles fuel but doesn't open the injectors???

Thank you for the great tip! I've always had problems starting my sled even after new battery, plugs and cleaning! Scrappy dealers never mentioned a recall. Worked perfectly!
@brettlarson43272 жыл бұрын
Glad it worked! But I have found there are days... when it is "extra-special" cold... or the batt is weak, where you need a shot of starting fluid down the intake tubes.
@brettlarson43273 жыл бұрын
One other tip I found that helps is to make a straight crank attempt at first (as seen in video) and then do this priming trick for the next try if needed.

Yeah I love Yamaha for allowing the user all the functions in diag mode! You can do a lot of things in there and I remembered that you could cycle the injectors.. which gave me the idea to try this.

Cool hack. Apparently these phazers do not like old gas. Had 07 that would not start. Needed fresh fuel and spark plugs started right up.
@Aaron-i3i1kАй бұрын
When you take out the spark plugs there are coils and in those coils there are these metal pieces looks like this wedged in there from the spark plug do you grab them out or do you leave them in there

It might be time for a valve adjustment if you are having trouble with warm starts.

@brettlarson43272 жыл бұрын
Yeah that check light should have a code with it that you can read if you follow the service manual instructions. That will give a good clue as to where to start.

Not sure if I’m a bit late. But I’d it the same number for a Yamaha venture sled too. Cant find info about it online. Are all Yamahas the same?
@theofarrell2918 Жыл бұрын
Tried today but when I go into them diagnostics menu I just hear the fuel pump going. When I go to 36 and 37 and press the hand warmer button nothing happens. No light or engine light comes on. The yellow warning light is on and isn’t usually on so maybe that’s the problem.

@brettlarson43273 жыл бұрын
My reverse has been good so far but people say to bounce on the running boards when trying to go to reverse... helps take gear pressure off momentarily and allows the shift.

@brettlarson43273 жыл бұрын
Nope what you speak of only pressurizes the fuel rail but does not pump any fuel into the engine. The method in this video actually cycles the injectors and "sprays" a bit of that pressurized fuel rail fuel in.
@eco_guardian3 жыл бұрын
I just bought 2 of these and I am regretting it. They are both hard to start and regularly kill the battery trying to start them. Since they don't have pull starters, you have to have jumper cables, the right hex driver to get to the battery and a willing 2nd snowmobile. Very disappointed with yamaha. I will try this tip though, thanks.
@TaraDantouze3 жыл бұрын
did you try heating the engine with a blow dryer or little buddy heater?
@jasonberning10862 жыл бұрын
These are great sleds! Sounds like you have an issue going on. They should fire right up. Maybe try running a heavy dose of Seafoam through fuel tank to clean fuel injectors. Should also only be running premium fuel
@eco_guardian2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonberning1086 I've done seafoam, replaced batteries, new plugs, new fuel, they just can't turn fast enough in weather below -10. Now the problem is rolling them over. I have never rolled a sled so often. Everyone of my friends who drive them roll them. Super dangerous.
